Pregnant after 35

Distraught

I am 38 years old and have a 4 year old son. According to my doctor, I am 7 weeks pregnant. According to my 6 week u/s, there are 2 sacs, but only 1 has developed. According to my 7 week u/s, there is no change... no fetal pole or visible heartbeat. I've had some mild cramping, but no spotting or bleeding. I'm being forced to wait through the holiday weekend (pure torture) for my doctor to correlate my blood work with my ultrasound to see if my numbers are going up. My outlook is not very positive. Is it possible that the single yolk sac is taking longer to develop because there was potential for twins? Twins are typically smaller. I know worrying won't change anything, but I'm trying to keep a positive attitude.

I have heard of cases where the fetal pole was not yet visible at 7 weeks. I think your bloodwork along with the next ultrasound will give a clearer picture as to whether you could have a viable pregnancy. I know how scary and stressful the wait is having experienced a blighted ovum myself. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I will be hoping for the best for you!! Try to stay positive and hopeful, your body needs you to take care of yourself. Hugs.

I hate waiting. They are making wait 18 days to get my ultrasound and I am on pins and needles.
