Is anyone else not doing cereal at all? I breast feed and pump while at work and am planning on DD having solely BM until 6 months. At that point I'll start introducing foods like broccoli, avocado, banana, etc... (BLW for those familiar). I wanted to see if anyone else on here was also skipping the cereal?

Lol my son would already be eating then! Before 4 months old he was watching us eat intently. Starting around 4 months he started leaning toward our plates and opening his mouth. I am going to talk with his pedi about skipping cereal. My sister says not to because it helps their belly get ready for real food. At the same time I know it has not nutritional value. I am really leaning towards no cereal though.
We're skipping cereal completely.
We tried it once with DS last time, he wasn't ready for solids. By the time we tried again I realized that it wasn't necessary so we went straight to trying real foods. So we essentially skipped it last time too.

Not true. Cereal and grains can actually damage infant GI tracts. New studies show they can cause serious issues.
Also to the pp mentioning BFing causing iron issues. Also crap. Do your research. Breastmilk is a complete nutrition and all your child needs the first year. Food shouldn't be the main nutrition in your child's diet until after a year. BM or formula is the main staple. You're trying foods not food training them. They'll get the iron they need from whichever you're giving them milk wise.
No we are not there GI tracts cannot handle it.....We will start with avacado, poss egg yolks, sweet potatoes etc....i am doing veggies first for awhile as I do not want her wanting fruit aka sweets over veggies
The weston price foundation is a great resource.....it's worth checking out. We also love Sally Fallons book Nourishing Traditions
I also follow a good TCM's site......the holistic squid

Although DD1 was born at 36 weeks and breastfed we still did Polyvi Sol vitamins because she had some bleeding in the head at birth. I would not look to food as the source of vitamins. BM or Formula is the main source and if extra is needed i'd seek vitamins. Good luck!
