I was going to sign up for the color vibe in July as my first 5k but It's really popular and I'm terrified. People are crazy as hell. Yes, I know I can't live in fear but this one is pretty popular and it's two days after independance day. Am I being nuts? I think I'm the only one who gets anxious over big events now.

Re: Anyone else feel this way about the color vibe 5k?
I would run it if you want.
Everyone is different- but personally, I won't ever let "the bad people" run MY life or run me away from things I want or enjoy to do, I won't live in a bubble. My life would be a dull one if I ever let that happen.
This is true. I didn't used to be anxious like this until I had kids.
Are you afraid of something like the Boston marathon bombing?
I wouldn't call you nuts but at the same time I don't think you should live your life in fear. Something could happen anywhere at any time.
Yea, pretty much that's what it is.
Totally understand. I just think things can happen anywhere and anytime. I was at a concert Friday night, and before we were let in we had to spread legs/hold out arms and they used a wand on us to make sure we had nothing on us. Eye opening! But seriously, you can walk down a street and someone can open fire a gun. You can be in a library and someone can set off a bomb. You know? If that's the case, and people were afraid of that stuff happening... everyone would be in their house (in which case someone can enter with a gun, so....lol). Go run that race
Ok I'll get off my high horse now!
Color runs are usually untimed. It is a good fun event to get started, especially if you plan to run with a friend or family member.
I do worry about the # of people attending. I am doing one in a week with my 7 yo. Registration closed at 1000 people.
I did a 5k last week that had 7200 participants. It was literally a human dodging event and too much for me.
