Year end gifts for teachers

Are you doing year end gifts for teachers and if so, what are you giving them? Last year we did gift cards (Target, Michael's etc) but we did that for Christmas this year so I feel like I should do something different.

  • Our preschool asks that you give cash of $25 for the head teacher, $15 for assistants, and $10 to split among specials teachers.

I can see it can get a little nuts when there are helpers along with teachers but we are not in that kind of situation. DS has 2 teachers in his classroom so we get them each a restaurant gift certificate. Got them the same (different restaurant) for Christmas with a card.

  • For the end of the year for his 2 therapist and the 2 paraprofessionals we gave $10 gift cards and for his teach we gave her $15.  All the GC came from Target.  We do the same at Christmas but we gave more at Christmas.  It all adds up so quick! I wrote a nice thank you card to everyone.

Oh and $10 to DS bus driver! (Target too)

  • I ordered screen-printed canvas totes off of Etsy. Which reminds me, I need to check the package tracking because they should be here this week. (Preschool ends next week).

I plan to put some baked goods and maybe a piece of fruit in each one, plus a note for each of them thanking them specifically for how they've helped DD1.

Between therapists and teachers, we've got like five people to account for.

I have not really thought about it yet.  In the past, I have done Starbucks gift cards.  We have a cute new cupcake place so I was thinking of either bringing some in for them to eat or getting a gift card for there.  Target is always nice though as they can use it for themself or towards items for class.  Another great idea that I heard about from a friend was to have your child pick out some items for the classroom such as books and art supplies - things that the classroom always needs and that many teachers buy with their own money.

  • We've always done a group collection from all the parents and presented one large amount gift card per teacher.  Donations are anonymous and totally voluntary.  Some parents also give an additional small gift on a more personal level.  I donated and will be giving them a book I read to the class for Chinese New Year (that I know they don't have) for them to have for future classes.

  • I think we are either getting her a movie gift card with enough money for two tickets and food and drink or a gift card to Cheese Cake Factory. I'm going to go check our Costco and see what kind of Gift card deals they have out. I saw a ton when I was there last week. Then of course I will think of a cute bag/basket to present it to her. Teacher aids will be similar but worth less money.

  • I bought little baskets at Michael's, filled the bottom with crinkle paper and put these things inside with a little sign that said, "I couldn't have PICKED a better teacher."  You could also say, "You are the Berry Best!"

     Hand Cream

    Hand Gel

    Soap

I liked another thing I saw with a Mason jar filled with homemade cookies and a sign that said, "Thanks to you, we're smart cookies."

  • I am collecting money from parents ($5 or $10) to get a class gift... probably a nice gift card.

  • We got her teacher and the aide a potted Gerber daisy and wrote a really nice note.  At Christmas, we gave them a card telling them how much we appreciated them along with a gift card to Starbucks and a travel mug.
