I feel like lately I have been encountering a lot of stupid comments from people and normally I just ignore it or smile and walk away. This week it seems to be on overdrive unfortunately. The first one was an old lady that told me that I shouldn't be putting headbands on my daughter because it will restrict her brain growth. She also pointed out that it's making my daughters' ears stick out. (It wasn't.) I told her that her ears are naturally like that and she said I should be putting her ears under the headband then to help them stay back! Excuse me?! My daughter is not Dumbo and her ears are fine! (for the record, she only wears headbands when we go out and I size them correctly.)
The next one was with my father-in-law who was teasing my daughter with a chip. She is on solids but obviously there are a lot of things that she can't eat yet. I told him multiple times to knock it off and he kept blowing me off saying he has done this a lot of times until I finally lost my *** and said (yelled) "I am the mother and I said no!" That got his attention.
The final thing was having one of my baby-less friends preach at me how to keep my baby from being a picky eater. I love this friend dearly but I hate it when people that don't have kids know exactly how to raise them. I'm glad their invisible children are perfect.
For the old lady, I hope your girdle breaks loose in the grocery store line and you have to pick it up off the floor. For my FIL, I hope your cholesterol goes through the roof from eating those chips and the doctor puts you on a restricted diet of purees. For my baby-less friend, I hope you have triplets and they only thing they will eat for you will be chicken nuggets and marshmallows. There, I feel better
Re: Excuse me???? Who made you parent of the year? (vent)
I love this vent. We've all been there, but I couldn't have said it better. "I'm glad their invisible children are perfect" and "I hope you have triplets and the only thing they will eat for you will be chicken nuggets and marshmallows" You're my hero....
I'm really proud of your spazz on the FIL!!! I've been very close on my MIL!
