Trouble TTC

N3TR Would you be mad?

I am super p!ssed at DH right now.

His cell phone broke yesterday, so he mentions that after work today he is going to the AT&T store where his friend works to see about getting a new phone and plan (he currently has T Mobile).  I offered for him to take my cell so he could call me if he needed anything and said he was fine.

DH just called me to tell me he got a phone.  I asked him what kind and he said a galaxy 3 (I think, I'm not up on my smart phones).  Now he mentioned that he wanted to look into getting a smart phone, but we didn't really get to discuss anything.  I asked him how much the phone will cost and he told me that he only paid $8.  I then asked him how much the plan was and he said, "like $80 or $90 a month."  Really!?! You just doubled your monthly cell phone bill and didn't even think to discuss it with me first?  I know he just looks at it as an extra $50 a month, but on a 2 year contract that's like spending $1200.

What really ticks me off is that it's a 3 day weekend and we could have shopped around for a better deal, but now it's too late.

Ugh... my husband did that same thing one week before we got married... he renewed his existing cell contract -- I was like DUH... we should have combined the accounts and saved a ton of money.  Men.  Smh.

Part of it is my own fault for not telling him that I would go with him.  DH is a pushover and will just agree to things without questioning things. So I'm sure his friend (who i don't care for) told him that this was a good deal and he just believed him.

Awww, yeah, we have had more than our fair share of moments like this. Whenever it happens, I'm always like, "Didn't we learn from the last time!?" It makes my blood boil.

Two of my DH's impulse purchases stand out. To his credit, we weren't engaged yet for either of these, but... One was two pet rabbits. I'm not a fan of animals in a cage, and with a dog in the house you really have no choice. I have lots of stories about the rabbits...

The other was a house. Yes, I said a house. At this point, we were together for 5 years, not engaged but heading there. We were doing long distance while I was at grad school. One night he just casually brought it up on the phone, "So I think I'm going to buy a house tomorrow." Whaaaaaaaaaaa??? He emailed me the listing so I could take a look, but really?! Come on! I didn't even know he was looking! I would have made a trip to see it if he would have waited.

Twinkie, deep breaths, and really, i feel for you. What's done is done, but hopefully you two can talk about it so it doesn't happen again. Not that we've mastered it over here, lol!

He actually cancelled  the contract after he talked to me, but then the girl at the t mobile store said that she couldn't do anything with his old phone because he already cancelled his contract with them.  So he left with no working cell phone.

My stubborn husband comes home and declares that he is just not going to have a cell phone now.  I tell him that he needs a cell phone, that I would worry about him driving his 45 mile commute without a cell phone.

    ::cue long argument::

He just left to go to a friend's house and stopped by a different t mobile store.  They just got his cell turned back on and he will have the same number.  His bill will go up by $5 a month, but now he will have unlimited talk and text  and 500 MB of data.  Also he is not under a contract so he can switch to another carrier whenever he wants in the future.

I feel bad because I honestly didn't care if he got a smart phone and a data package, I was upset that he didn't discuss how much it would cost before getting it.

Well, i guess at least he didn't buy a house.  :)

DH doesn't make impulse purchases often and usually they are small.  He completely caught me off guard.

And yet I still married him, lol. It turned out to be ok, and I moved in with him after I graduated. It was a cute little place, so he could've done worse. But I was happy when we bought the house we are in now, our forever home. I was so dang picky to make sure it was exactly what I wanted!!

Twinkie, it sounds like the situation worked itself out, but I can understand how you're upset about the communication glitch. Maybe he should make it up to you... Make up sex or flowers would be nice, right?! ::mobile winky face::
