WDYT Shawn

WDYT of Shawn? I know the traditional Irish spelling is Sean, but I'm only a drop of Irish, if it makes a difference.

So, questions:
WDYT?
Stereotype?
What MNs would you pair with it?

Re: WDYT Shawn

  • I think it's a nice strong boy's name but I think it looks girly spelled Shawn. I much prefer the Sean spelling

  • I love Sean, but hate the spelling Shawn (plus I have a horrible association with the name).  I really wanted Sean for DS2 but DH shot it down... tear.
  • To me, Shawn is trashy while Sean is classy.

  • I love the name and the Shawn spelling. I like one syllable names paired with three syllable names.

I feel the opposite.  Of course I also do not know any girls names Shawn.

  • Not a fan. Something about te spelling looks feminine, and for some reason, also feels dated to me. I really don't know why.

I think if you're going to use Sean for a boy, go with the conventional spelling. There are plety of non-Irish Seans out there.

  • I really like this name and have no preference on spelling. All of the Shawns I know are very successful or very hot, and a couple of lucky ones are both.

I like Shawn Matthew, Shawn Alexander, Shawn Henry, Shawn Lucas, Shawn Archer, to name a few. I think many names pair well with it.

  • Not a fan of either. They're really dated. If I had to pick, I'd choose the Sean spelling over Shawn.

  • I knew a Shawn. He was hawt. Kind of a douche, though.

  • I like Sean better but I think either is fine. I also love Shane. When I heard or see Sean or Shawn, I don't really have a stereotype. MN suggestions: James, Michael, Preston, Elijah or Micah.
