Anyone violating the Terms of Use (including the post I just locked and deleted) will be banned. Period.

Regardless of your involvement or your opinion on any matters discussed on this board, I don't tolerate violations of anyone's rights here. It might be wise to step away for an hour (or a day) to gain some perspective on all of this.

    The TOS clearly says that cyber bullying is not only something that happens with teenagers, it can happen at every age group. It says so.

    I know - I just read it and got giddy that we could use profanity. And here I've been holding my erm.. well... fingers. I am a casual curser, I typically don't use it towards people as much as just in general.

    SOOOOOOO much has changed in the last 6 months that I only recently became aware of.

    The Terms of Use changed to what I linked above. It's very specific to what is/isn't allowed. I didn't create the TOU, I'm just here to be a FAIR and CONSISTENT enforcer of them.

    To answer your questions:

    The post I locked/deleted was a DIRECT call out of AliciaS, it brought up old stuff, it was mean-spirited, it was a bashing. According to The Bump (not me), that violates rule #1 Zero tolerance of bullying. Again, not MY words, The Bumps. 

    I have no control over censorship of curse words. Use them all you want, I think The Bump automatically censors some words. I will never delete/censor colorful language. 

    And, lastly, like anything in life, if you don't want to play by the rules, you can choose not to play. You can never please everyone.

    PS - if you all settle down in the coming days, I'll un-stick this post.


    Any questions on how I run this board as your Mod? Anyone not clear?

    It's up to the Mods to have their own discretion on things that are "grey" regarding the TOU. I have always been very loose in my interpretation of what is a violation and I'd like it to stay that way. Please :)

    **IF** and that's a big if I ever open the door again for a Co-Mod, you'll be on my short list. :)

    A lot of you had questions in this thread about what, exactly, made me delete the posts content.

    I'm posting the details just to further clarify. If anyone ever is unsure about a violation, just ask me. I have never deleted content nor will I ever ban anyone without providing a reason. More likely, you'll get a warning first.

     

    Here are the TOU violations from that one post:

    Personal attacks include, but are not limited to: starting a thread with a user's name as the topic/title to "bash" them, linking to a thread to call out a user on their post, thoughts or beliefs (not a topic), calling a username out maliciously, starting a malicious or derogatory poll/question about a user, using images (memes, gifs, etc.) in a direct attack/vicious manner, etc.

    "Trolling" The Bump boards by posting inflammatory or off-topic messages with the intent of provoking members/disrupting normal discussion is not permitted and will lead to warning/banning from the boards" 

    "Any posts that are contributing to a negative and threatening atmosphere on the boards will be removed and may result in a warning, suspension or termination of your posting rights in the community"

     

    In all honesty, that poster was LUCKY she wasn't banned because 1) she violated 3 TOU and 2) she was not a regular poster on this board that I would feel comfortable giving a warning to.

    No cursing.  It's offensive to my sensibilities.  

    How did people not realize before now that "creative" curse words won't be auto-removed?  

    Also, I vote for new co-mod to be whomever said they will "mod the sh!t out of these boards".  That's inspiring.   

    ETA?  See, s h i t was auto-blocked.  But if I said asshat it would not be.

    I can't say. SHE was the Mod at the time. 

    Going forward, I'm here and am telling you all how I will be moderating this board according to the NEW TOU. I'm happy to answer any questions and address any injustices. :)
