January 2013 Moms

*facepalm*

I ordered take out food tonight and when the driver arrived I went out onto the porch so I could pay and get the food without my dogs being a hassle at the front door. I got my food and turned to go back inside... I was locked out... with John inside!!

I checked all the doors and windows, no luck. DH was due to be home from work in 20 minutes and John was safe so I decided to wait it out. John was in the middle of the living room floor doing tummy time and about 5 minutes into my lockout he started fussing wanting back over. I was peering at him through the security door and talking to him (must have looked like a crazy person!) and he figured out how to roll back over to his back!! Yay!

When DH got home and we both got inside DS was on his back up against the coffee table smiling up at the ceiling. Goofy boy. I'm glad he was entertained, lol. SMH

  • I am still waiting for this to happen to me. Before DD, I had locked myself out several times and have had to go through the kitchen window. I am short so its a real pain and I often take down the blinds with me in the process.

Apparently, when I was a toddler, I locked my mom out on purpose because she threatened to get rid of the cat. I picked all the petals off her african violets, pulled the cushions off the couch and then took a nap on top of them. I was bad...

Oh believe me! A window would have been broken here too if John wasn't happy or if I had to wait too long or didn't know when DH would be home!! As it was I talked to John, watered the outside plants, and ate some of the take-out while I waited. :P

    LOL to your toddler antics!!

In high school I forgot my key to my house a few times. I broke the frame of the garage door once kicking it in... I then screwed it back together and painted over the screws... mom never knew. Another time I was trying to open a window I had often climbed in when locked out but it was latched... to unlatch it I had the brilliant idea for my best friend to push the window as if opening it while I knocked on the middle part where the latch was (it had worked once before, honest!). My BF ended up pushing her hand right through the window!! She still has a scar from that day... and mom DID find out about that one, lol.

  • I'm always afraid of doing this as well! I've never had handles before that I could turn and open the door while it was locked. My DH always locks himself out. I check the door handle like 6xs before walking out. I would have been freaking out if I did it, I think about it everytime I go in garage..what would I do if I just locked myself out lol

  • Oh you are way calmer than I would've been. About 12 wks pp I locked the dog in the car accidentally after getting C out and I cried like an idiot.

I am always afraid I'm going to lock us both (DS and I) out when we go out to swing.  I have a horrible habit of locking doors behind me.  While it would be better because we'd be together, it's getting pretty warm here and would be too hot to stay outside until DH got home.  A window would be broken for sure.
