Eminence Organic Skincare?

Hi all,

I have never really been on this board (mainly my BMB Oct '13) so I looked around for similar posts but didn't see anything, so I apologize if this has been covered before... I went for a wax yesterday and was out of the cleanser/lotion I had been using since December, my esthetician just came back from maternity leave and I wanted her advice.  We picked Eminence Eight Greens Whip Moisturizer and the Stone Crop Gel Wash. I have used Eminence products in the past and love them. Fast forward to bedtime last night... I read the ingredient list for the Eight Greens and salicylic acid is the second or third to last ingredient.  I know about the potential harmful effects of salicylic acid greater than 2% in pregnancy.  I immediately texted my esthetician and asked if I should return the product. We found a post on the Eminence FB page where a customer asked if there are any products pregnant women should not use, and they said all their products are safe during pregnancy except for the stimulating masks/peels.

Does anyone have any experience or know anything further about the Eminence Eight Greens?  I'm about to call the company now... I feel a little silly calling my midwife office about it, it's not like it's life or death or anything.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Re: Eminence Organic Skincare?

  • I don't know about the Eight Greens in particular but I stopped using Eminence products when I was pregnant for the same reasons you outlined (salicylic acid).  Even though I was told by my facialist that they were safe during pregnancy, I opted to stop using them to be extra cautious.

  • My OB said that salicylic acid is a definite no-no during pregnancy.  It's apparently a derivative of aspirin, and can cause clotting problems.  I avoided it completely when preggo.

  • I don't know about the Eight Greens either, but yes, absolutely avoid the salicylic acid!

  • I used that during most of my pregnancy & I called the company to ask as well!
