No ECV for me

Met with my OB today and she said she isn't comfortable doing a version. With his previous heart issues and the fact that he's been breech the entire time she's afraid a version will cause fetal distress and end with an emergency csection under general anesthesia. So, I'm sticking with my scheduled section date two weeks from today. However, I am contracting a ton and dilated to a 2 so she said to watch my contractions closely cause I could go into labor on my own within the next two weeks. I'm bummed the version is not an option but I want to do what's best for LO even if its a harder recovery for me

  • Sorry to hear that, but you have the right attitude! Whatever is best for baby. Good luck!!

  • Have you tried the spinning babies or ice pack on babies head? Apparently they don't like that. My mw suggested it.

  • I've tried everything! My doctor thinks his cord may be short and holding him in the breech position

  • I am a firm believer that everything happens for reason. My SIL wanted an external version and Doc was willing to do it. She freaked out at the last minute. When the baby was delivered via c section the cord was pretty tight around her neck. The doctor said if they had done the version she would have been in major distress and not breathing. Csections aren't that bad and you get a beautiful baby out of it! Good luck!

  • I had a similar situation with my first.  She ended up having severe hip displasia from being breech for 4  + months (which was easily corrected with 10 weeks in braces) which would have probably been made much worse with ECV.  I stressed so much over missing the "natural" birth when we decided to schedule the section, but in the big scheme of things it was not that big a deal and I m so glad kiddo got here safely.  Youwill be just fine.

Aww..sorry to hear that but it is best to be safe.  Keep your chin up mama, he'll be here soon enough and then you can share sweet sweet cuddles and snuggles with him.
