Hello,
My progesterone was 12 at the start of pregnancy &
fertility specialist prescribed me Prometrium to take twice daily. I
went in for 8 wks ultrasound & my OB/GYN doctor told me there is no
embryo. She also told me that I should come back in 5 days for another
ultrasound to confirm blighted ovum. She also told me to stop taking
progesterone as 12 is not a low level. I am planning to wait and go
for 2nd ultrasound after 10 days only(its already 7 days since my first one), as I have seen few people not
able to see embryo till late 9th wk.
1. Is my progesterone level of 12 ok or should I actually take more ?
2.
I have totally stopped taking progesterone last 7 days. I am concerned
what if on 2nd ultrasound things are ok & then in that case will
stopping progesterone going to effect pregnancy negative
Thanks
Kim
Re: Is level of 12 low (I stopped now but concerned)?
Sorry you're going through this! I would definitely make sure you are sure that its not a viable pregnancy before taking any drastic measures.
Please call your doctor and ask him this question.

Did you get instructions on when to stop your supplements from the medical professional overseeing your care? I wouldn't stop or start anything without their imput and definitely not from internet strangers that have no idea of your history.
LFAF Summer 2016 Awards:
It's my understanding that once you start taking progesterone, even if your levels are fine later, you do not stop, until you reach 11-12 weeks. Even missing a dose can be a very bad thing. Your body will notice the drop and you can lose the pregnancy.
I was on these myself and my own doctor said "you're probably fine but stay on it. You can't risk coming off because the level drop can cause a miscarriage."
It's possible that she may be saying to stop because she's under the impression that there is no pregnancy at this point, due to a blighted ovum. You should definitely see something by 8 weeks, including a heart beat around 6. I have never heard of anyone not seeing an embryo until 9-weeks, as you mention. In fact, by 10 weeks, many women are having their NT scan.
