I didn't buy a single thing for my siblings for Christmas one year - I re-gifted things I had in my house. A free with purchase journal? Little sister! Strange bottle of alcohol DH got from a co-worker? Brother!
I really like that Aria demands to be in her own crib by 8pm. It means that hubs and I are pretty much guaranteed some quiet, at home, alone time on holidays.
I play up my regrets to family though. "Oh, I'm so sorry guys. I wish she'd stay up later, but she just doesn't. And you know how much of a little fanged monster she turns into if we push it..." lol
I never mind working holidays because the money is awesome! So I usually try to pick up a holiday shift, then we tell my parents and the ILs that I got stuck working and wish I could be at x, y or z. At least DH and I are on the same page about it! I get paid double and a half for holidays.

One more...I'm starting to think I don't want to "do" Thanksgiving with my family anymore. I sort of want to just do it with DH and Allison. I just hate the forced feeling of holidays. I think I want to do dinner at home then maybe go to my mom and dad's for pie and cards. But all day there is just not appealing to me anymore.
FWIW, I feel the same way about Easter and Christmas but one holiday at a time!
I want this baby growing in me more than I can explain, but I REALLY wish I could drink over the Memorial Day weekend. My IL's are in town and we're having a cook out with a lot of DH's extended family - many of which I don't know/like. Beer or wine would have gotten me through it so much better.
I want to do Thanksgiving so I can control the times, activities, venue, etc. I do not want to cook. Spoiled rotten of me, don't you think?
Christmas is my birthday. There are rules for this. Foremost are no birthday presents in Christmas paper, birthday celebration must be seperate from Christmas celebration and I end up getting more of a birthday week as it's really not possible to do birthday stuff ON the holiday, and then there's Christmas Eve, Christmas parties, etc. to schedule around.
Being Santa stresses me the EFF out. In our current home, I put up a baby gate and put a chair in front of it so they kids can NEVER bust us. In other homes we have looked at I won't be able to do this due to configuration and am considering putting the Christmas tree somewhere weird or having Santa deliver to somewhere the tree is not. Neurotic much today?
I went shopping in yoga pants...At the mall. Hate on, haters! I'm at the "in between" bloat and bump phase so my pants are uncomfortable and its only 56 degrees and raining so no dresses!

No hate from me. I do it more frequently than I care to admit.

It's fine as long as you changed before your hubby came home.
I spoiled Christmas for my younger brother. I told him when he was 5 that Santa wasn't real. I also am bad at keeping secrets so I've told him what his gifts were in the past. To this day I have the worst time keeping gifts a secret from DH! I have issues.

Kiddiiiiiiiing.
im sitting here next to DH in the same shopping outfit except I just realized I had dried meatloaf on my forehead for the last 1.5hr from Colton's dinner shenanigans. I am so super sexy I can't even stand it.
I'd rather do holidays with my in laws over my own family. My mom can be a disorganized spazz... and she's a bad cook. My MIL is a fabulous cook and just drinks a glass of wine if something goes wrong.
Sounds like my MIL, I love her!

I'm jealous of your MIL love. I wish my MIL wouldn't have gone psychobish on us.

I had no issue giving up alcohol with my last pregnancy but this time around it seems like more of a sacrifice. I'm not a big drinker by any means but we just moved into a new house with a nice big screened in porch and H and I started a tradition of drinking a beer on the porch after the baby was in bed. Now it's just not the same...
