Hi all! DS is 2 weeks old now and I've been so wrapped up in his newbornness that I have hardly been on TB at all. For those who don't know me from PGAL/TTCAL, hi, I'm Bananers. History in siggy and more details than probably anyone would care to know in blog (link in siggy).
Theodore Claude (Theo) was born two weeks ago today, on May 9, 4 days overdue. Labor began with my water breaking at 4 a.m., got to the hospital at 6 a.m., and spent two hours in triage since his heart rate was decelerating with contractions. After a while, he seemed more stable, so they sent me to walk around the hospital for 2 hours to get my contractions coming closer together. It worked, and I was admitted to L&D at 10 a.m. Labored until 1 sans epidural, trying all the "natural" ways to alleviate pain that I could (shower, jacuzzi tub, birthing ball, etc.), before crying uncle and getting the epi at 1 p.m. Epidurals rock. Unfortunately, the epi did slow down my contractions, so they had to augment with Pitocin. It was slow going from then on out, and by 8 p.m. I was FINALLY 10 cm. They had me labor down for an hour and I got to start pushing at 9. Theo was finally born at 11:18 p.m. after 2 hours and 18 minutes of pushing. So exhausting, but worth it. We are in love!
I am hoping to become more active on this board now that we're getting used to life with a newborn. I see many familiar names from PGAL and TTCAL - great to see you all again!
