So I know I've read in past threads that some of you, like me, had the goal of BFing or EPing until 6 months. LO is going to be 5 months next week, so I've started thinking that I'll actually get my boobs back soon! It then hit me, however, that even though we will start solids, it will be quite some time before LO is eating primarily solids and I know cow's milk isn't recommended until at least a year. For you ladies that plan to stop at a certain point, what are you doing during the transition? I'm thinking my only options are formula or freezing milk, and I'm not really keen on either, so at this point I think I will probably keep pumping until 9 months1 year. I know it's best for baby, but gosh I was excited at the thought of being done at 6 months and having my body back!

Re: BF question
Probably won't wean until he's mostly on solids or a year which would be two winters since our kids are winter babies.
This is my plan, as well, assuming all continues to go well. I EP -- and yeah, it's kind of a pain, but at this point, after nearly 7 months, I can hardly imagine *not* doing it! The two winters thing was not suggested by anyone, but given the girls may still have a rough go of it if they catch anything next winter, I'd still love to have BFing as one form of immunity support for them just to get over that last hump.
formula. But I like BFing, not pumping. If I could quit pumping and just BF, my life would be great
My goal was 6 months, but now I'm thinking that if I can make it to 9 or 10, I could get by by weaning her slowly and using freezer stash, then starting cows milk around 11 months and not using formula at all. Or I'll use all the free formula samples I got the last month or so. I don't have a problem starting milk a little early or using formula for a little while. I just don't think I'll make it pumping for 8 more months!
