Trouble TTC

whats wrong with me??

Me and my fiance having been trying for over a year and a half now. When I went to get my yearly pap done, I brought it up to my Doctor so she had my hormones tested for any kind of thyroid problems or hormone problems,everything came back normal so she referred me to my now gyno, he also did more blood work on other hormones and such and once again everything came back fine. I also started seeing him because i haven't been having periods,ill get like 46 a year, they use to be regular then after i got pregnant and terminated the pregancy my periods just went way out of wack,but that was years ago. Anyways before i even went to see him I had a trans ultrasound and a normal one and everything was perfect. He started me on 10mg of provera for 10days to jump start a flow. It worked but i didnt get a period till 2 weeks after my last pill, after my next period was due it never came so he had me yet again take provera but this time my period came before my prescribed dose was done. So i didnt finish the provera and started on clomid 50 mg cycle days 37. I went back to thr doctor on CD 21 for a progesterone blood test.I came back that it was very low at a 1.3. I didnt even ovulate. I am now on CD30 and dont feel a period coming anytime soon, im suppose to call and get more provera and 150mg of clomid. What happends if that doesn't work? I dont have pcos or any hormone problem everything is fine I just dont ovulate. But why??? If anyone has gone through the same thing and ended up conceiving please i would love to hear your story, or even if anyone has the same troubles I do,thanks and good luck to everyone.

    You need to stop the clomid and see a reproductive endocrinologist.

    Your CD21 blood test is useless- it needs to be done 7DPO, and you only know if you are 7DPO with proper monitoring.

    It doesn't sound like you've had an HSG done, which means the clomid may be totally useless. If your tubes are blocked, no amount of clomid in the world will help since the eggs can't get where they need to be.

    Your GYN is not a fertility specialist. That's what an RE is for. You wouldn't have a brain surgeon do a heart transplant just because they are both surgeons, would you?

    yep. This.

    Definitely get in with an RE instead a GYN. Good luck.

    ::Sigh::

    Unfortunately many OBs claim to specialize in infertility, but if they were truly infertility specialists they would be board certified in Reproductive endocrinology.

     Your OB is skipping important steps in your treatment (HSG and ultrasound monitoring) and ordered your progesterone blood work on the wrong day.  Clomid use needs to be carefully monitored or you are risking possible cysts, thinned uterine lining, and higher order multiples.  For the sake of your health and fertility, stop doing unmonitored Clomid cycles with your OB and find a RE.

    Exactly what Twinkie said.  If you want to pursue infertility treatment you need to be seeing a RE.  Your OB has skipped vital steps.  Do not risk your fertility.

    I agree with all of this. I am so sorry that you are struggling - we can all relate to how frustrating it is. That said, not seeing the correct type of Dr. and getting the proper testing done could make things significantly worse.  Please be an advocate for your health, and find someone that can take care of you properly. I PROMISE it will be worth it to have that kind of expertise helping you along the way. Best of luck to you.

  • My whole life I was having irregular periods and once I went on birth control I thought that solved everything.  I started at 15 yrs old and decided after I got married to come off and try having a baby.  At 28 I came off the pill and my periods went back to being irregular and it was about 6 months I went to a fertility doctor.  They diagnosed me with PCOS poly cystic ovarian syndrome.  I have a hard time ovulating. The first time I went through IUI it didnt take.  Then the 2nd round my husband and I would keep having intercourse about every day.  Now im on day 7 of being pregnant.  This could be a possibility of what you have.  Your best bet is to see a fertility doctor.
  • I cant believe I havent heard of this type of Doctor, I have read so some much stuff on google i drove myself crazy.

    I will not be doing my second round of clomid now that i am totally freaked out ,but relieved to be able to start in a new direction,

    My doctor messed up my perception anyways so maybe that's a sign.
  • This is what I had done for blood work ;

    Testosterone, Estradiol,pituitary gonadotropi,prolactin and a few other ones.

    Is the hsg that ultrasound when they shoot that dye up there to check your tubes? Sorry for all the questions

    It is an X-ray with contrast dye injected into your uterus and through your tubes to check for blockages in tubes.
