Which way would you guys spell it? My husband wants it with an o but I like it with an a. Suggestions?

I'm pretty sure the standard spelling is Melanie. I agree that it looks very wrong when spelled with an "o."

Melanie is the correct spelling. It's from the Greek word for dark, which maybe is not a great meaning, but it has an origin and changing the spelling would look silly.

I already won the argument haha, MELANIE it is!!!! I told him that melon was in the name the other way to spell it. Right away he said, never mind, you win haha.

I wanted to spell it with ie in the end not y so that's why we picked Melanie. But he thought the o was better, not anymore, he likes Melanie now, he warmed up to it! :: Mobile Smiley::
