Melanie. I see the word melon stand out when you spell it the other way.
This made me laugh so hard!!! Didn't really think of that. Now I have to try to convince my husband that Melanie would be a better fit. I'm gonna use the melon excuse!! Haha
Melanie is the correct spelling. It's from the Greek word for dark, which maybe is not a great meaning, but it has an origin and changing the spelling would look silly.

Tell your husband if he wants to spell it with an O, you may as well spell it Melony. I think you'd win that argument :. I have always loved the name Melanie though
I already won the argument haha, MELANIE it is!!!! I told him that melon was in the name the other way to spell it. Right away he said, never mind, you win haha.
MELANIE it is!!! Thanks ladies we were just picking names already. We already have the boy name set but we wanted to figure out the girl name so when we find out the gender, it will have a name already :
Melonie is NOT equal to Melanie. It would be Melony. If you like the way that sounds then you've found your spelling!nbsp;nbsp;
I wanted to spell it with ie in the end not y so that's why we picked Melanie. But he thought the o was better, not anymore, he likes Melanie now, he warmed up to it! :: Mobile Smiley::

I've never seen it with an o, I don't even know where my husband got the whole idea of it being with an o.

If you use the O, people are going to pronounce it Maloney, I guarantee you
