What the F happened?

So for about 3 weeks now DD has been STTN. She has her last bottle at around 9 or 9:30 then goes to sleep around 10ish. Sleeps til 7 on weekends but we have to wake her up at 6 during the week to bring her to daycare before work. Yes I have been sooooo spoiled to have such a great sleeper at 10 weeks old.

However, the last two nights she WILL NOT sleep. I'm talking the entire night she is wide freaking awake. DH and I have to take shifts so we can each at least get a couple hours of sleep. I don't know what happened!

I think my husband is going to talk to the teachers at daycare and find out exactly when she's sleeping, for how long, and where she sleeps there. I have a bad feeling that they don't play with her or keep her entertained so she just sleeps all day then she's wide awake at night. I will be so frustrated if this is what's happening. I worked so hard to get her days and nights back to normal after she was born because she had them mixed up. Now this...DH and I cannot survive on 2 hours of sleep every night. UGH! Please tell me she will go back to STTN again soon.

Baby sleep is very unpredictable and almost never consistent. As soon as you get used to something, they change it up on you. I've learned to take any stretches of STTN as a rare gift that more than likely won't last, lol. But in your situation, maybe LO just misses you while you're working and wants to spend extra time with you at night? But this will also be a phase and I'm sure in another week or so her sleep patterns will change. I wouldn't blame daycare though. Chances are they are doing the best that they can.

Good luck, mama! I know, it is so tough and hard to function on not a lot of sleep. Just keep telling yourself that "this too shall pass" and treat yourself to some extra coffee today!

they've actually shown that some babies stop STTN when they go to daycare in order to spend more time with primary caregivers. This could be it. Or, they could be letting her sleep but to be honest if she's not normally really sleepy/cranky in the day they probably aren't. She could be OVERSTIMULATED there, and then acting cranky/sleepy because her body is shutting down and she's trying to sleep.

Hoping this is what's happening with mine! It also may be an issue with her feeling insecure since starting daycare like you guys said. This is her first full week, before she only went 3 days. So maybe she is just needing some feelings of security like being held. She does relax when she has her paci but the dang soothie keeps popping out of her mouth. She never use to take another kind but this morning I tried a nuk one and she took it. And best of all she can keep it in! That might help out at night.

I agree that baby sleep patterns change constantly over the first 2 years! It's been true for both my kids. I wouldn't necessarily think something is wrong or that daycare is doing something wrong, it could just be one of the many phases. And you're beyond lucky she's been STTN already! Cope the best you can and pick up a couple of sleep books for more info on baby sleep patterns. Good luck!
