Babies on the Brain

Intro and Question

Hi everyone, I'm new here, wanted to say hi, and I definitely have babies on the brain. DH and I aren't planning to try to conceive for a few more months since we want to enjoy our newly married life for a few more months, and I won't be going off the pill until shortly before then. Until that point, is there anything I should be doing? I know about starting a pre-natal vitamin before then, and I'm working to get to a better weight before kids. Should there be other vitamins or anything that I should in including into my lifestyle to prep? Are there any good books/articles to read about stuff to do before pregnancy?

Pregnancy Ticker

Re: Intro and Question

  • Haha thanks, I can't wait! I've never been to the big island. Part of me is wondering if we should wait until Hawaii to start trying, because if I was lucky enough to get pregnant sooner than later, being in the first months on vacation could be hard if I was sick with m/s.

I don't really drink alcohol or caffeine often, so that's easy for me. I'll have to pick up a prenatal though. I am starting to improve my fitness, I want to lose the 10 I recently gained before getting pregnant. And ok, good, I do have a physical set up so I'll have her refer me to an ob/gyn to start up with them!

Now I need to find books, hah :)

  • I would suggest getting a copy of the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility and reading through that. Even if you decide not to chart, it will give you great knowledge about how your body works and how to increase your chances of getting pregnant by paying attention to your body's signs.
Start exercising as its safe to continue exercise in pregnant but not advises to start something new.
As for prenatals, most women around here like the Target brand ones or take the Flintstones gummies. You definitely don't need a prescription prenatal. Targets has enough of all the important things. I take mine with a meal and haven't had any nausea issues, though I'm not pregnant.

I hope this helps and I wish you luck on your journey!! I would also encourage you to enjoy the time of just being married. The time goes by so fast and you can't get it back!

  • Don't forget to make a trip to your dentist!  Plaque Build up is higher once you get pregnant.

TTC Since October 2012.  I’m 27 and DH is 30

DH: 4 SAs, all came back normal, blood testing 6/13-9/13 all normal

Me: 03/13 irregular cycles, hypothyroidism diagnosis

3/13 full blood panel showed normal results except thyroid

5/13 regulated hypothyroidism, regular cycles again

6/13 day 21-24 blood testing came back normal

6/13-9/13 DH testing with Urologist- normal

11/13 ultrasounds and full hormonal blood panel were normal

12/13 OB consult, day 3 blood tests and HSG ordered

01/14 HSG results normal, day 3 blood tests are normal

Just hoping that AF will back off and give me a chance to take a pregnancy test! All are Welcome!!

  • I agree with PP, I would also check out fertility friend. I use the website and app to chart :
