Heartrate = Gender

Hi ladies. Just curious to know what your babies heart rates are/were and whether they were boys or girls. My twins are 10w/2d and one has a hr of 148 and the other has a hr of 142. At my 8 week visit the heartrates were 152 and 144. I'm anxious to know if that means they're going to be the same sex because they're numbers are so close. Don't get me wrong I know they say not to invest too much into the heartbeats but I can't help it.

  • Sorry; total old wives' tail. No truth to it at all. I can understand being anxious to find out the sexes though; I couldn't wait!! My boys' HRs were usually about 10 bpm apart.

    If I went by heart rate predictions, both of my boys should have been girls.  They always had very high heart rates, usually separated by 10 bpm or so.  Obviously, the predictions were not accurate!  :)

    THIS. I have two girls and they were 130s and 160s. They are as different as night and day now though so that might have been an early indicator of their personality.

  • I'm pregnant with triplets and just had my anatomy scan this morning.  I'm having 1 girl and two boys.  My girl was 172 and my boys were 139 and 144.  So in my case the old wives tale held true :).  However, I think their heart rates change as you get further along.  I've been seen by my doc every two weeks since week 9 (I'm 18 weeks now) and the heart rates have always been two in the 170's and one in the 150's.  So go figure.  But still fun to guess using all these silly theories until the actual ultrasound!
  • We had an ultrasound on Monday. The tech was 90 percent sure that we are having a boy and girl. Their heartrates were 142 and 145.

  • Thanks for all of the great feedback ladies. Definitely conflicting. LOL guess I'll just have to wait for the anatomy scan.
