Baby Names

Longer names for nickname "Ellie"

I've looked at so many names with "Elle" in them, and none fit. I love Brielle, Arielle, etc, but my husband isn't in love with them. Other names we've liked but don't really fit are Skyelar (Kylie) and Kaley. He likes 'K' names. I adore Rosalie, but his most recent ex (who is dating his best friend) is named Rosy, so at most it'd be a middle name. Our other middle name choice is Nicole. I'm hesitant about Skyelar Nicole because then her initials would be SNM and I would prefer them to not sound like a kinky sex style. We don't like 'common' names like Danielle.

For what it's worth, this is just my opinion, I would pick the first name that you love and worry about the nickname later. A nn that fits your child will come! Same goes for the spelling of the name, don't worry about spelling a name differently so that the nn is actually in the full name. I know someone that did that, and not only do they regret the unusual spelling of their DD's name, they also have never used the nn they had in mind.

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
  • Thank you all for your replies! Yea, I'm not sure what my husband and I are going to pick yet. It's a weird conondrum because we want to meet the baby first before finalizing, but also not be stressed when she's born to pick a name.

We may just leave it at Elle if we don't like anything longer, because we love Elle...it's just so short and seems like a longer name would be pretty, but if there's not one that fits we'll figure it out haha.
