How to respond?

I keep getting a some people asking me "is there something you really want me to get you from your registry?" And I don't know how I should respond. Some of the people are family and some of the people i know have very limited funds so i feel awakard saying specifically what i really really need most. What's the nicest way of responding? I keep saying, I need everything on my registry so whatever you see that you want to ge,t but don't feel pressured to buy from the registry.

Re: How to respond?

  • I'd just say "If it's on my registry, I want it!  I took a lot of time into putting it together and trust me - we can use everything that's on there."

  • All you have to say is you'd be happy with anything from the registry.  If the person asking you is a parent, maybe you could ask them if they think there's anything they can think of that they loved when they were a new parent...

  • I got this question a lot too-- I think it's probably a way to make conversation (an awkward one, albeit).

I would probably say something like "we will love anything you get us" and leave it at that.

Thanks all! It's such an awkward question to get asked! My mean pregnant self wants to just say to them that's a really stupid question to ask! I personally cannot imagine asking that question to anyone with a registry.... Just pick something and get I or don't pick something and do your own thing! Thanks for the advice about the comment section on the registry I think I will change that part to be more informative!

  • The only person I actually said buy me xyz was my dad. Because he asked "what big ticket item do you want sooner rather than at your shower, your mother and I want to get it for you" so I told him my crib mattress. Cause we're putting our crib up this weekend and it'll look odd to me without it lol. And they wanted to buy something important.

Anyone else I would go with what pps said.
  • Well, if you place it on the registry is because you need it or wanted, so whatever they give you will be fine.

Be as honest as possible and if you know that they don?t have that much money; tell them that is ok if they give something else if they can.

If I was you I?ll tell them whatever you want to give me.
