we've done puffs, cheerios and some mushy carrots and brocolli. mushy but solid enough to hold. I need more options too!
We've given DD these same things. But DD will not eat finger foods. She'll play with them but never put them in her mouth. When we put them up to her mouth, she'll clamp her lips shut and shake her head. She loves purees though.
We usually try and give her a bit of whatever we are having for dinner. She loves chunks of avocado, mahi mahi, steamed broccoli, grilled asparagus, steak, chicken breast, turkey meatloaf...has tried pasta, rice, various kinds of potatoes.
For breakfast, she has had scrambled eggs, a piece of freezer waffle, hash browns, LOVES pancakes...

I mean this with no judgement I swear. How do you give her steak?! What does she do with it?!

We grilled NY Strip steaks one night and sliced off a large chunk for her. I rinsed off all the seasoning that DH had sprinkled on it and handed it to her. She mainly sucked on it, but did manage to gum a small piece off and eventually swallowed it. Most of the stuff we give her ends up in lap or on the floor for the dog. Or in the back of her diaper like the spinach the other night - no clue how she managed that one! She was fully clothed while eating.

I am a FTM and I am just scared to death of him choking. He whines to get my food, and reaches for our food. You know what I think I did was READ way too much about when and what to do.

This is our LO - except when you put it in her mouth she eats it and then opens WIDE as she can to get more - (mind you she'll be holding "more" in her hand - but she wont' eat that)
Anna has gagged a few times, but she does this even w/ puffs or other small pieces. It's how they learn. Just make sure the pieces are either big enough for them not to swallow whole or small and mushy enough for them to eat.
Till now, she loves banana, avocado and apples. I'm
not good at knowing what to give to my baby but i always find different fruits
and vegetables, here: https://goodmomming.com/there're specific for age. Maybe you could find it useful.
