I have a little piglet

So DS LOVES his purees and just eating in general. He can't get enough. I make my own and I made them a little thicker, with less water. He will chow down on zucchini squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, applesauce, bananas, pears basically anything you put in his mouth. He tries to grab food off the table when we eat dinner.I get the feeling he's getting bored with just purees though. He will be 7 months next week. I am weary of letting him try chunks of food, I am so afraid of him choking. What would be the best foods to start with in bigger pieces? Can I give him snacks during the day as well?

Re: I have a little piglet

  • We do BLW and its super scary at first but I've gotten over it.  I hand her apple slices, banana chunks, asparagus spears, green beans, watermelon slices, ect...she nibbles it and  occasionally will beta big chunk but spits it out.  I have given her puffs and rice cakes from happy baby.  They have yogurt melts that I may try since I accidentally have her dairy already.  Oh and she loves waffles and pancakes! Just hand her a whole pancake!

  • We don't follow BLW, but we do baby mum mums, cheerios, and puffs for snacks. He has those in between meals. His meals are usually 4 oz. of purees for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sometimes when he's still hungry after finishing the puree, we give him other things like bread, or crusts, and bananas. I haven't really tried anything else yet but am starting to get ready to give him more since I think he's ready.

  • Do any of your babies have teeth yet?

B is toothless so I am scared to give him half of that stuff although he will eat puffs.

I listed a bunch of stuff my kiddo eats in the "finger food" post and she has not a one. She just gums on the stuff and will either slobber enough to break it down, or spit it out.
