AW:: I Got Half Time

I'm a teacher. I went back to work in January for 3 weeks and decided to take a leave of absence the remainder of the year. I put in a request for half time for this coming school year. I just found out it was approved and I will be teaching computers to 4/5 graders. I'm so happy! I will work from 12:15-3:45 in the computer lab. I will miss my classroom but I'm glad to be able to be home more. Plus, I keep my seniority in my district. So thankful! I'm so excited that I wanted to share!

That's a great deal! I am also a teacher. Right now, we cannot afford for me to SAH, but once DH gets a promotion and we can afford to, I'd love a part time job in the district. I worked part time with 2nd grade after I graduated from college. I worked from 8:50 to 11:50 each day, and it was perfect!

Wow! Congrats! Those hours sound perfect. And even though you will miss your own classroom, you probably won't miss a lot of the busy work that comes with the teaching an actual class of kids. Grading papers, setting up the room at the beginning of the year, parentteacher conferences, etc and if your LO is sick, calling out for a 1/2 day sub would be a TON easier than rushing in yo get sub plans together at 6am.....which I have had to do MANY times! Can you tell I have given part time teaching some thought?
