We had a lucky st patty's day and found out we were pregnant after our first IVF cycle. I went to a few websites and tried to calculate my due date, but I was wondering if it is any different for IVF babies vs. naturcal conception? I think I am ~ 5 weeks.
And, although I am estatic about the pregnancy, I hear all these horror stories of women who lost the baby. Any advice on how to not focus on that? I am pretty postitive overall but it seems that women who have IVF have slightly higher chances.
Thoughts??
Re: I'm pregnant after 1st IVF cycle! :)
Congrats!
I am not very knowledgeable about IVF, but I think you count the day of your IVF as the day of ovulation- so use a calender that lets you input the date of ovulation/conception. I think there are other IVF ladies on this board that have a doctor approved answer
Try to focus on today, that you are pregnant and enjoy this time when it is just the two of you. Worrying about something you can't prevent isn't good for you or the baby.
Congrats!
My friend is starting clomid and IUI this cycle, I hope for the same results for her!

Congrats! We got our IVF BFP on March 10
I definitely understand exactly how you're feeling. Unfortunately, I don't really have any good advice for you except to hope for the best and know that you're in good hands with your doctor. Are you doing any hormone supplements like progesterone or estrogen? The good news is that often miscarriages happen because of unbalanced hormones, and we are being monitored extremely closely so there's a great chance for our babies to stick!
If you google IVF due date calculator, you'll find a couple of sites that will help you out, but your best bet is to ask your doctor. I went through two EDDs on my own before finally just asking my nurse, and she said that today I'm 5 weeks 1 day. My transfer was on March 3rd, if that helps you figure yours out at all

Congrats!!!
As for your question - I had 2 previous m/c, both were very early (one at 5 weeks, one at 6 weeks) and both were at least partly because my body was not producing enough progesterone at the time, from what my RE could tell. I would guess that since you are did IVF and therefore have been under the care of an RE or OB or both, any hormonal issues would have already been found or ruled out by now by your RE and/or OB.
Try not to let the fear of m/c overwhelm you. More often than not, pregnancies are healthy and progress naturally.
After 2 years of TTC#1, 2 losses, & a lot of prayers, we're hoping this is it!
Congratulations!!! My DD was also our little miracle baby from 1st IVF Cycle. It is definitely stressful, but just enjoy the moments as much as you can. I know, so much easier said than done, but it just goes by so fast! Very exciting!!!
Did you also have your 3dt on March 3rd? If so, according to what my nurse told me, that would put your due date as November 22, and today you'd be 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant
My first ultrasound isn't until April 4th and I'm just dying to see what's going on in there!
Have you been having betas done? If those are looking good, then I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just try to enjoy the ride!

Yes, I had my 3dt on March 3rd! Looks like we are having Thanksgiving babies!!
Beta is what they test when doing the blood preg test, right? (sorry, I am not up to speed on the lingo yet). If so, I had just one on the 17th. Did you have multiple done after the initial test? I'm wondering if I should call my nurse on Monday to see what the # was and see if I should go back? I did take a home test last night, to 1. make sure I was indeed pregnant and 2. to know how it felt to take one and it be positive. All went well!
That is so awesome! I'm so excited to have a due date buddy PLUS an IVF pal
Yep, they generally do a beta test (the blood test) every couple of days to see if your numbers are doubling. I would think it's pretty common for a fertility clinic to do them a few times since a one time beta doesn't tell you much. Do you know what your number came back as for the first one? Just for comparison, I had one done at 14 DPO, one at 16 DPO, and one at 21 DPO. You might want to at least ask if they could do another draw to see what your numbers are.
It's definitely good news that you're still testing positive on the HPTs though--I can't stop taking them either, ha!

All right, I'll call on Monday! Thanks for all the info! I look forward to the sharing this incredible journey with you!!
Hi hon, first off, GL!
Google search failed you, though, because we all had our babies about six months ago. I would try maybe the Infertility Veterans or PAIF boards?
