Hi ladies!

 

I have two questions related to things happening inside of my son's diaper (LOL).  He is almost 5 months old (on the 29th).

 

1.  His poops are frightening -- more often than not, they explode out of the back!  But, the color and consistency is good, and he doesn't seem to be uncomfortable when it happens.  Could it be the diapers?  We've used all three major brands but he blows out all three.  Or, does my baby just have major poops?!

 

2.  His little penis has been "going in" and hiding for the past week or so -- it almost seems to disappear!  It comes back out if I gently mess with it a little bit, but I just don't know what's normal and what's not for little boys. Why is it doing that, and is that normal?  He was circumcised at 6 days old.

    I don't have the blowout issue and I CD so I'm no help there, but the penis question... My DS's penis does the same thing. He was circumcised at 2 weeks but there is still enough skin there for his penis to hide. My pedi tells me at every checkup that pulling it back and cleaning it is part of normal diaper care. When he was younger pulling it back was critical for preventing reattachment of the foreskin, but at this point it's just hygiene.

    The only blow-outs we have had have been when we needed to go up a size, even when the boys looked comfortable and still were within the weight range.

    The penis thing is normal. I now have two DS's and penises still confuse me. :)

    We use cloth and rarely have pooslosions. Penis thing is normal. Make sure you retract the skin and clean it with each change. We also put some lubricating cream on it to avoid adhesions.

    DS leaks poop every day too..He's going usually once per day now so when he does it is a lot! I don't think it's preventable, but I think pampers have contained it the best.

    LOL, this, I actually asked my DH if this is normal....he responded with he has no idea he doesn't remember when he was a baby what his penis did! LOL, but the "turtle penis" is normal according to DS's doctor. I pull it back when it is like this and clean around it.
