feet question!

i have a quick and probably silly question on what you are putting on your LO's feet now that it is getting HOT! we are in the mid 80s in the suburbs of Philly and I am trying to figure out what to put on DS feet. i have been putting him in socks, but wonder if this is too warm...

last summer he was a teeny little guy and bare foot most of the time... having trouble figuring out what to do now! :)

I was thinking bare feet, sandals, socks, or just buy his first pair of sneakers even though he is not quite walking yet.

what are you putting on LO's feet now that the weather is getting warmer? (silly question, right?!)

DS isn't wearing anything...sometimes he'll wear soft soles like robeez.

my weird quirk is I love to put DS feet on my face...

  • At home nothing. Just bare feet. When we are outside she wears sandals or sneaker/sandal type shoes. I rarely put socks on it now since its warm. Her feet would be too sweaty. But mostly inside, nothing, and then something on her feet for outside as a protection. She isn't walking yet but is cruising along and trying to stand independently. She will be walking soon enough and should get used to having something on her feet.

  • Outside he wears sneakers and inside he's barefoot.

I've been wondering about getting him sandals because it's getting warm here. But are baby sandals even a thing? Lol

I'm curious about what others say.

LOL yep!  We just got StrideRite sandals this weekend for both kids.  They're perfect!  Closed toe (so if she's crawling she won't scrape her toes) and a soft, flex, rubber sole. (plus they have to be closed toe for daycare)  They're antimicrobial and washable.  I didn't mind the extra cost for these ones since I plan on her wearing them all summer (or until she outgrows them).

DS is walking full time but I have him barefoot 99 percent of the time anyway.

He has a pair of Stride Rite shoes for daycare, but he is still always barefoot there. Our DCP agreed on no shoes unless absolutely necessary for protection and a fenced in grass yard just isn't something I think requires shoes.

We've had his shoes on for like 15 minutes a few times for practice and he has the hang on walking in them so... I don't know! It will still be a long time before I put DS down to walk in like a parking lot so we don't ever bother with shoes

Not silly! Jack is barefoot at home and wears socks to daycare (which usually get removed). No shoes yet because he isn't walking yet.

    Me too.  :)

DD is either barefoot if we are inside or out on the grass or has her Keens on.  Last summer, DS was 18 months and he wore Keens, Crocs, or Tevas all summer long outside.  DD has a bunch of See Kai Run sandals she'll be wearing as well as a pair of Tevas.

In your situation, I probably would look in to getting a pair of Robeez or something like them.

I'm in the suburbs of philly too :)

I'm putting sandals on Parker now that it's warmer.  He has really wide feet though, so it's not fun finding shoes!

  • DD2 is kept barefoot about 99.5% of the time. It's not like we let her walk around at Target, so why bother with shoes? I keep them in the diaper bag JIC, but never use them.

That's how we are with DS, like I said above. Someone actually asked if I had shoes for DS today and I had to dig them out of the bottom of the bag. I'm sure he'll outgrow them before I put him down to walk somewhere he'd actually need them. Ahhh well. I was always barefoot as a kid, I expect DS to be the same!
