How long did it take DB to walk unassisted once they were walking hand-in-hand? DS has been cruising for at least several months but just started walking while holding someone's hand (or even a finger). Really, really hoping he will take off alone soon.
Re: Walking unassisted?
It took my DS a month or two of cruising before he felt confident enough to walk. He would start letting go to take a step or two to the next object to cruise on. He needed time to feel confident about what he was doing before he was ready to attempt walking unassisted.
Your DS will probably take the leap soon. Mine started a week after his first birthday, but that's actually a few months earlier than normal. However, MIL tells me that DH as a baby didn't walk until he was nearly 1 1/2 because he was a studier and needed more time to be confident in walking (and talking for that matter). Just keep encouraging your DS to take little steps between cruising objects and he should be walking pretty soon.
He was walking unassisted and well by 10 months.

this. similar age too
DS2 Started crawling at 8 months, started cruising at 8 1/2 months, and started walking at 10 months.
They are all different!
DD walked at a touch over 9 months. Full time and adept by 10 months.
DS has be capable of walking for 4-5 steps for several months but wouldn't/didn't. He has been walking full time for a week now. He just up and decided to start one evening. 14 1/2 months.
This is definitely an 'every child is different' scenario.
DD pretty much refused to walk hand-in-hand with anyone until after she could walk unassisted. She would pull her hand away, drop down and start crawling rather than walk with someone's help.
