No movement today...should I call the doc?

I am 24 weeks today, LO normally is pretty active at night, and not so much during the day,  I will feel her move around and kick occasionally throughout the day, but today I haven't felt her move, should I call me doctor?

  • Has your ob talked about kick counts yet?  If not, i wouldn't worry about it.  I would, though, drink a bunch of ice water and have some oj or other sugary treat to see if that gets her going.

  • Its normal to not feel movement all the time. There are days when I don't feel any then some says I feel a lot.

I wouldn't just yet. Baby sleeps A LOT in there!!!
  • No, at my last appointment she asked if I had been feeling the baby move, but good idea about the sugary juice I am going to try that thanks.

  • Thanks ladies I'm feeling ALOT less worried knowing this is normal. I am a FTM so all of this is very new to me. Thanks again

  • Try an ice pack on you belly.... That will for sure make LO move. Be prepared! Haha!

  • It's normal, but giving the office a call wouldn't hurt if you're worried. You don't need to call the emergency number or anything, but just to check in so you feel better. I personally haven't gone a day without feeling at least one movement from baby girl since week 16. Some days she's definitely quieter than others though and I might only feel her once or twice, but I know if I hadn't felt her at all I'd shoot my doctor an email just for her reassurance.

Sometimes if I haven't felt her move for a while, I'll lay on my side... that usually does it.  If not, I kind of move from side to side.  It usually gets her going while she's trying to figure out what the heck I'm doing.

  • I have days where he isn't as active, today was one of them. Try the ice water tip and see if that eases your mind at all

  • If it makes you feel better, you can always call your doctor because they will tell you what to do or maybe even make you an appointment to check on things. My midwife always tells me if I'm worried to not hesitate calling because it will make me feel better. If you don't want to call yet, I'd wait until tomorrow and if you still don't feel anything, I would call. Totally up to you and how you feel though!

I'm sure everything is just fine! :)

  • I feel movement all day every day, but I swear she might be part octopus..but i think you have nothing to be worried about though..some days are lazy days and regular movement isn't supposed to be counted until the 3rd trimester, so i'm sure your baby is just fine. :) they sleep a lot too. drink the ice cold water though, that's a good suggestion!

  • It's normal. My doc said if I'm worried then i should eat sweets then lay on my left side for an hour without any distractions no tv or music, etc. if no movement after that, then call.
  • LO was just getting her beauty rest earlier, because she did eventually become active, and now I can't sleep because she's up kicking and moving lol thanks for all the great advice.
