Babies: 0 - 3 Months

New Fussiness

My LO is 2 months today- she has always been a good napper but the last 3-4 days have been very rough. I am lucky to get a 30 minute nap in. She wakes up fussy and tired (we all know the tired cry). I change her and try to put her back down but she just won't go down. I try food to see if she's hungry (thought it may be a growth spurt), but she's not hungry.

Just wondering if this is/has happened to any of you. Did you just keep LO up until it was time for the next feeding or work to try and put her back down for a nap? I follow a eat/play/sleep routine.

This is my baby too! She will be 8 weeks old on Friday. Have you heard of Wonder Weeks? They are developmental growth spurts. Here is a link that explains when they are and what the baby is learning at each one. There is one at 8 weeks and that's probably what our babies are going through.

Just looked this up! It has to be this!!! She is very fussy and clingy and normally is perfectly fine putting herself to sleep and going back to seep after startling! Thank you so much for finding this! I feel relieved that I actually know WHY now! :)

  • going through this exact experience! thanks pp for posting the link, that was helpful. and op- you're not alone! as far as whether i keep lo up until the next feed, or try to get her to nap is 50/50... really depends on how far away the next feeding is, and if she seems like she'll entertain the idea of a nap.

I'm glad it was helpful to you! I never knew about wonder weeks until I read about them on TB. I actually just ordered the Wonder Weeks book today so I could understand each one a little more. It got really good reviews on Amazon and I think it's important to know what LO needs and what they are learning. Plus it helps my sanity to know it's normal and be mentally prepared :)

I downloaded the APP!! It basically explains everything and how to help them. It also sends you alerts when a 'wonder week' is coming up! It's really cool and only $2!

  • My LO just turned 8 weeks on Tuesday and is going through the same thing! I was wondering why she seemed so clingy all of a sudden and was crying and having difficulty napping. Recently when she starts crying from being tired, the only way she'll fall asleep is if I'm holding her, and she wasn't like that before. I might get this book as well!

  • Ds has been like that since saturday...and he is only 7 weeks. The only places I can get him to nap are on me, or on his tummy if the time is right and with lots of coaxing on my part. I feel like my entired day is spent trying to get him to sleep.
