Baby carriers for Daddy?

I am a newbie to all of this and expecting our first in August. My Husband is OVERJOYED and cannot wait to be super-daddy! One thing is he wants to get a strap on baby carrier, but I have no idea how to help him pick one. Any suggestions on good, comfortable carriers for men? Or places to go to try them on? We are registered at BRU and Target, but I am willing to go elsewhere if needed. THANK YOU!

  • Ergos tend to fit men better and you can also purchase an extender if the straps aren't long enough for him. Personally, I loved the carrier myself and it was very comfortable, even with a heavy lo.

We have the Beco Gemini and my hubby is 6'4'' and he can wear it comfortably.  I am 5'7'' and I love it also.

  • We have an ergo and we both love it. My husband is quite a bit taller and heavier than me and he loves using it.

  • We have an Ergo sport and now a toddler version of the Tula. I think the Tula wins over the two :)

I second the Ergo for dads. Our LO LOVED being carried in the Ergo by dad and it was easy to put on/take off.

Most cloth diaper shops also sell baby carriers that you could check out :)

DH loves our Beco Gemini. Target and BRU don't carry them (at least not here) so we tried it on at a local shop. The thing that is great is that it's easy to get on and fits both DH (6'2") and me (5') just fine.

  • My husband and I are both over 6 feet tall and love the ERGO.  I highly recommend.  I just wrote an article and included a rec of the ERGO.  Check it out!
