I have PCOS and I'm currently on my 2nd round of clomid. I took a day 21 progesterone test yesterday and a nurse at my doctors office called me today and told me that my levels are good and my doctor wants me to take a preg test tonight...isn't it too early though?? I'm afraid of taking the test, getting a negative result, and being discouraged
Re: Testing Question
TTC since July 2011
BFP #1: 2/15/12-Ectopic/Mtx at 6 wks
BFP #2: 10/12/12-m/c at 5 wks.
Me: MTHFR, Low AMH (1.1), High NK cells and Antiphospholipid Antibodies.
IVF with ICSI in August 2013 brought us our babies. ER-9R, 7M, 4F w/ICSI ET of 2-Grade 2 blasts.
Dx shortened cervix, PTL, and preeclampsia during pregnancy. Lots of medications and 13 weeks of bedrest, babies were born healthy at 34w4d!
I do not have PCOS and can't speak on that, but if you did a CD#21 progesterone does that mean you had a confirmed 'O' on CD#14? If so, I'm still not sure why she would want you to test so soon?
You def risk a false negative. I've always been advised to wait until CD#28 to test. Sorry I'm not much help I guess!!!
Anyways! GL!!! FX FOR YOU!!!

1. I don't think you can just pretend CD1 occurred.
2. Are you getting appropriate monitoring? I know you said you had a CD 21 progesterone, but anything else?
3. Are you seeing a RE or an OB?

I'm sorry for sounding dense. I'm just confused...
Did you have period? CD#3 testing? Ultrasound? HSG? I've personally never heard of pretending a day is CD#1 and going from there. Nor have I heard of taking clomid without the above testing/monitoring.
It would really help the extremely knowledgable ladies on here, help you if you provided a little more background info. Otherwise I stick by my first post. Test on CD#28.

This. I am not sure about "pretending" a day is CD#1. Are you seeing an reproductive endocrinologist (RE) or an OB/GYN? Did they tell you when to start the clomid? Are you being monitored on the clomid?
Like PP said, I guess some background would be really helpful.

I've heard this as well, but what are the odds that her doc did all of the proper testing before starting Clomid mid cycle if he ordered P4 on CD 21 and then told her to take a pregnancy test the next day because "her levels look good?"
BTW, OP I recommend finding a new doc. Your does not know what he is doing when ordering IF blood work. Progesterone should be checked 7 DPO not CD 21 and the day after checking progesterone levels is too early to check for pregnancy as implantation may not have even happened yet.

PAIF/SAIF Welcome!
I actually did this for my last cycle. I hadn't bled for about 30 days and he did blood work and an u/s and everything looked good so he told me to count that day as CD1...this was the first I had heard of this, but it made sense to me for sure! But, like other ladies are saying, I'm sure her doctor is not doing all of this monitoring or at least it doesn't sound like it.
Sorry I didn't give all the background. I went off BC in July of 2012 so we could start trying, but I never got my period...I saw my OB in Nov 2012 and she did blood tests and an ultrasound (regular and internal) and diagnosed me with PCOS...she had me wait until Feb (for insurance reasons) and then she had my husband do a semen analysis, which came back good...I then took Provera for 10 days to get my period and started my first round of Clomid on Day 3...the only monitoring was the Days 21 progesterone test, which confirmed that the first round of clomid didn't work...since it didn't work and I didn't ovulate, I never got a period so my doctor had me abstain for 2 weeks, take a test to make sure I wasn't pregnant, then start round 2 of Clomid
I never did a test to confirm my fallopian tubes aren't blocked because my OB said since she knows I have PCOS and I'm not ovulating, she felt comfortable giving me Clomid right away and skipping that test...she is only doing 3 rounds of Clmoid with me and if they don't work, she's going to refer me to an RE...should I request an RE now if this round didn't work??
You can't tell if your tubes are open without an HSG! What good is the Clomid unless you know the egg can meet the sperm?!

OP, all of what the PPs said. Please listen to the advice. We know its disappointing to hear that what your doctor did was wrong and will delay your treatment some, but this is dangerous to your future fertility if you continue unmonitored.
