Missed opportunity

So my lo finally slept through the night. He slept 10 hoirs straight. However, after midnight I kept waking every hour due to his noises or him coughing. My husband kept checking the video monitor to make sure he was ok. Anyone else experience this? I should just turn off the monitor all together as our room is right next to his and we will hear him cry. I feel like I missed out on quality sleep!

    You'll get used to it.  Once you're confident he's ok and it's his new norm, all the noises won't bother you so much.  I tend to keep the monitor on the lowest volume and it helps.

    Our LO's room is right there too.  For the first couple weeks we kept the volume up and were up with every squirm and whimper.  We turn it way down now and only wake up to the full blown cries.  Just make the change when you feel comfortable.

    Our LO is still waking up twice to eat, but we are also very close to his room and we don't use the monitor at night. He makes some noises while sleeping, but once he really starts fussing, we always wake up and hear him. I never go and get him until he is consistently fussing bc sometimes he will put himself back to sleep. Congrats on baby STTN, I'm a bit jealous!

    unless it was a fluke, gurantee he'll do it again. you'll learn to turn the sound down on the monitor. now my LO sleeps from 7:30-630 and I check on her once before I leave for the gym. I still wake up sometimes in the middle of the night, imagining a cry and she's been STTN for a few weeks now!
