Lily ate a whole jar of stage 2 Mangos on Sunday. Then, Monday, she ate a whole jar of stage 2 Pears, even though she was grumpy all day. And, yesterday, Mangos again! That's the most food she's ever eaten!

Sure, it takes her several sittings to finish the jar, but she's eating!

While watching TV the other night, DD saw a Macy's commercial that ended with the star logo. She spontaneously signed "star!"

I got my first ever standing up naked butt picture. Sure she was leaning against the tub but I was able to let go of her and get far enough back to get the picture!

My son, who is prewired to telling the truth at all cost, has spun quite a web in one of his preschool classes. His teachers asked me how our pet rats were doing. I looked confused said, "Oh, you mean CATS- we have two cats." No, DS has been telling them he has two pet rats, Ratty and Watty. We both got a good chuckle out of that. When I approached DS he quickly just said it was a "fib" and a "joke" but then quickly followed up with "When our cats die, can we get two rats?" Over my dead body kid!

We are going through a rough period with Owl, she is defiant, acts different with us vs. everyone else, and is all around frustrating right now. I'm hoping this is due to a big progression and keep reminding myself that she was completely compliant a year ago so this is good.

DS's Kindergarten teacher invited him to spend an afternoon in the classroom familiarizing himself with her and it, at our transition meeting. Today was the afternoon. He had a blast and was so well behaved. He sat and paid attention during carpet time. He showed off the letters he knows how to write while the other kids were doing work. He was a little put off that "go to your centers" meant work tables and not play centers but he went with it. He asked pertinent questions but kept his usual inappropriately timed blurting to a minimum. He even chatted up a few kids and maintained pretty decent small talk conversations. I think today's visit will really help him with the transition next Fall.

I'm getting more excited and less anxious about next year.

Ds did not bite a single kid at daycare today. In the last month, he has tried to bite or pinch a kid every.single.day. I'm hoping this is the beginning of a calmer kid!

DD received the highest academic award given in her class and also an award for perfect behavior every day for the entire school year! I am so proud of her.

MY BABY CAN READ.

Lol, yes, that deserved all caps. DD1 picked a book off her shelf this weekend that we hadn't read in a long while, and instead of waiting for me to read it, started sounding out and reading the words herself. Six sentences! And the next day, we read a whole board book together! She's using a mix of sounding-out, sight words that she knows and trying to guess from picture context. I am so proud I could burst.

I was an early reader myself -- although I think it's more expected these days to be reading before kindergarten -- and I love seeing that world of words start to open up for DD1.

She also actually has fingernails! On like nine of her nails! She's still picking at one, but the others she is letting grow. We've been struggling with this for awhile, and this weekend I noticed that she actually had some white tips on her nails (she had been picking them down to the quick), dropped everything and gushed over them and painted them on the spot. I don't know what prompted this, but I'm really trying to encourage her and be positive about her not picking. I think I may actually have to trim them this week, for the first time in months!

DD1 has sensory issues and a very sensitive gag reflex, so she's a fairly picky eater. Not surprisingly, vegetables have always been a challenge. We've been trying to persuade her to start trying them again, and today she told me she thought she might like salad. I made her a little salad at dinner, and she ate two pieces of lettuce without complaining or gagging

I know it doesn't seem like much, but aside from salsa, the kid hasn't touched a veggie in at least two years. I'm really excited because she seems open to trying them now.
