Since it's Wedding Wednesday..

I need your help ladies. My sister is getting married and I am in charge of getting her bachelorette party together. I'm not sure what to do. She has made it clear that she does not want strippers, pure romance parties, and stuff like that. I'm not such a fan either. For my party, we went wine tasting and I had so much fun. She's not a big wine drinker so she would rather not to that. I suggested a casino night. She shot that down too because she doesn't like to gamble. I love her, but she can be pretty high maintenance. So i thought about a spa day? Hmm...I'm not sure. What did you ladies do or planning to do?

my bachelorette party was a blast.  We went to this place in Boston called Jacques Cabaret.  Its a drag show.  Here's a pic.  (im the blond stuffing money in the dress of the drag queen)  i thought i would hate it, but it was so funny.  three were like 10 bach parties there that night.

  • Spa day is nice. A VERY tame bach party though. I had a limo and went to a night club. Typical. What about a themed night? Bowling? Dinner? Pole dancing party?

  • I'm big on the tourism in your own city type of parties.  I'd do a mix of something traditional and something silly.  Most spas will let you put together a package for everyone, and most will even include lunch.  Here's one idea, if I were planning.

Since a bachelorette party is usually for the closest friends/family, I'd do a "Birds of a Feather" theme:

-Start with a spa package, basic stuff: mani/pedi, makeup, hair.  Advise everyone to dress frilly and fun (think Betsey Johnson type dresses).  Provide something like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/129822652/gatsby-roaring-20s-peacock-fascinator?ref=sr_gallery_10&ga_search_type=all&ga_includes%5B0%5D=tags&ga_page=1&ga_search_query=peacock+fascinator&ga_view_type=gallery to incorporate into the outfits.

-Next, lunch at somewhere fun like The Melting Pot, unique but not crazy

-After lunch and cocktails, head to the National Aviary.  It's Pittsburgh, lots of art students, so try to find a photog student to run a photo shoot there with the birds.  It will be fun and memorable, though it may seem silly talking about it.

Afterwards, you can make a photo book or collage with the pictures.

  • Most of my bridal party was OOT, and all my other friends that were being invited couldn't make ANY weekend work. So my Co-MOH asked me what I wanted since all her plans backfired. I said I wanted to go to the bar and just have fun with my friends. It was a blast! We had these bachelorette name tags and we gave each other names all night. I got super wasted and we ate a bunny cake when I got home. Yep, a cake shaped like a rabbit. The inside joke was that we used the code-word (BUNNY) to mean penis (long story). So I said I didn't want a penis cake for my bachlorette party so they made a "bunny" cake. I loved it :)

Here is one of my fave pics of the night

my sister would probably call me high maintenance, too.  I wanted a spa day, or something like that, and she did this instead and i was SO happy she did.  i still laugh about it with her and my friends.

here are some drag shows in your area!  check the list:  https://www.fabulousdragqueens.com/shows/

ETA - anyone wanna play guess that drag queen?  ill give you a hint, she's annoying as heck

OMG. I need to check this out.

The Melting Pot is my jam.

I freaking love planning parties.  I was so upset that SIL's BFF wouldn't let me help host.  I had an awesome theme.

I'm not much help.. But if course I'll add my two cents. I think something sort of themed and not too wild sounds perfect. Of course IM's idea sounds amazing! I didn't have a bachelorette party, but I think I would have enjoyed something along those lines the best. Oh, and IM... You are officially the Nov'12 go to for themes and party ideas. Just to let ya know... :D

    *diva stage bows*

    Thank you, thank you!

I think I'd be a good gypsy.  On my new favorite show of all time, My Big Fat American Gypsy wedding, they have a LOT of parties.  And sparkles.

Not to sound like a bridezilla, but something along that lines is what I really want.  If we go to a bar and drink from penis straws, I'll be really. really. upset.  My sister is my MOH, though, so I think she knows that.

I originally wanted to go to an adorable spa hotel owned by my old company on the Erie Canal, but that went out the window when I quit.  Now I'm kind of pulling for this place: https://thecastlefuncenter.com/

  • What about dinner at the waterfront then Sing sing. It's a touch crazy but mostly chill. Last time I was there there were a few Bach parties and my brother will be going for his in July.

I only had three ladies. We went to lunch, then made dinner, hung out then went to a bar. It was fun.
