Obsessed with weird things?

Are any of your LO's obsessed with weird things?

Violet loves wash clothes.  If it was her choice she would carry a wash cloth around all day long and night.  She loves wiping her face, the furniture, the dog...you name it.  If you take it away it is the end of the world. This has been going on since January.  We were joking when we saw this ad that we should stock up for Christmas, but maybe we should.Stick out tongue

Re: Obsessed with weird things?

  • A mail in rebate for wash cloths? Lol. E was obsessed with Halloween at this age so we bought him a craft pumpkin at Michaels that he used to cuddle. It was not soft or cuddly. Los current obsession is gum. If she thinks you have some she puts her hands in your mouth. Luckily she thinks jelly beans and mini marshmallows are gum.

  • Em is obsessed with shoes. Hers, mine, DHs. Doesn't matter. She put her shoes on with her pajamas last night.

Is that at Menards? I think I recall seeing that ad. LO is obsessed with the color orange. He has been for several months, maybe since around Christmas or so I first noticed it. He is also obsessed with vehicles [real and toys] and anything he can ride on, even if it isn't intended for riding.

    Yes, it is Menards

  • I don't know if it's really "weird" per se, but DS is obsessed with shoes. It's one of the first things he looks at when he meets someone new and he plays with his shoes more than any toy he has. If he finds one shoe but can't find the other, he will frantically search for it until he finds it. When he sets them down, both soles have to be on the floor or else he'll correct it. We keep our shoe rack in the hallway so everyday after daycare he runs towards it laughing and yelling, "TOOJ!!" It's really freaking cute but makes it hard to restrain my own footwear obsession.

I ordered him a pair of shoes that are supposed to arrive today and I know he is going to lose his sh!t when he sees them.

  • E is obsessed with Fans, Lights, Fans, Electrical plugs...the coffee grinder and mixer and vaporizer.  Basically anything that can run.  He gets mad if something isn't running.  He turns the fans on if they are off in our house.

DS loves my sun hat and rather wear it than his baseball cap. He also is obsessed with doors. He opens, closes, and knocks on them all.the.time.
  • B is a bit OCD about laying out her blankie over her toys to make them go night night. I mean it has to be perfect. She will sit there for 2030 minutes meticulously trying to lay it out.

She's also obsessed with clean hands. If the littlest thing gets on her hand she freaks.

DD does the exact same thing! I was getting worried!

  • DD loves to do buckles. She will go around to people's carriages at story hour and try to do the buckles. Sometimes I take her to the playground and instead of playing, she hangs out at her stroller and does the buckles!

My DD is 2.5 and is still this way! She's finally starting to let go of her OCD tendencies ever so slowly. It's been a long process.

DS is obsessed with the number 9. Everything is nine. He also loves cars, fire engines, anything that drives. It's all "car!" to him. He likes to say "beep beep." He's also obsessed with stacking anything he can and he likes to put things inside of things, like snacks from one cup to another or blocks into boxes. He's always putting things in something then taking it out then putting it back in. And hats... he loves hats. Boy hats, big pink floppy girl hats, any hat he can get his hands on.

My DS LOVES his shoes too. He has to have them on. Many times he sleeps with them on over his footie jammies. If he sees another pair he likes better, he gets them and sits down holding them in the air screaming/flailing his arms until you switch them. Then he RUNS. Everywhere. He hates the feeling of tile on his bare feet and will just stand frozen until we "rescue" him and put shoes on. It is ridiculous.

Probably less weird, he loves throwing away trash. He's a great helper, but I have to check the trash to make sure there are no socks, toys, cups, etc. in there from his "helping."

  • Both of the boys live shoes. It's strange.

Alastair is so into wiping things, cats, brooms and my pump. Oh, and Shadow. But well, who isn't.

Cleaning in general. We had to get her her own feather duster and small handbroom with dustpan.

I wouldn't say this is weird, but definitely obsessive. T is obsessed with anything with wheels. I took him to the zoo today and he was more interested in all of the strollers and wagons than any of the animals. I spent the most of the time trying to get him to focus on our stroller than hijacking all the others.

This was Oliver...and then he became obsessed with the automatic doors and sinks at the zoo.  He could care less about the animals except the goats which you could pet.  He still doesn't care much for the zoo but loves the children's museum, science museum and electricity museum.

  • Wes rotates with his fixations on various "totems." One week, it will be the little remote that came with the Sirius radio that we don't even have any more. He'll carry it around everywhere. Last week, it was a little kangaroo stuffed dog toy that the dogs never played with. A few weeks ago, it was a neon green plastic sunglasses case. Kids are so weird.
July 20th, 2012: Never forget the day the fb douchebags tried so hard, but ultimately failed. Viva la October 2011! Yeah, I called you douchebags.

  • That's funny, Penny.  You should totally buy her some special wash cloths, especially with that awesome sale!

N is obsessed with my elbows.  She comes on my lap and grabs at them, saying "ehbows" all day long.  If she's tired, she will come sit on my lab and pinch my elbows forever.  It's sweet and weird all at once.

  • Another shoe fanatic here.  My shoes, DH's shoes, his shoes.  Every time I order him a new pair he freaks out opening them and wants to put them on right away.

This week he's been really into necklaces too.  He likes to wear them, wave them, carry them around.

DD loves buckles too. She never wants to get out of the car because she wants to do the buckles. After the initial moment of happiness when she clicks the buckle, comes the anger because she can't get them undone.

G is overly obsessed with her shoes. If you get her a new pair of shoes, it's like the best.present.ever. As soon as she sees them she says " New Shoes !!!", runs over, and insists on putting them on (even if they are a bit big). She will then go around to everyone in sight and say "New shoes!" and show her feet.

She is also obsessed with my old (yarn haired) CBK and putting hair bows/clips on her. Of ALL her toys, this is the one thing she plays with every.single.night. She will run to her room, grab the dool from the shelf, grab the bucket of hair stuff and proceed to struggle with carrying them into the family room (she won't allow anyone to help her). She will then spend then next 20-45 min putting the hair stuff on the doll (and insist someone helps her).

    Yup, she's a girly girl !
