The only thing we are avoiding is honey because of the botulism risk.
My LO has eaten shellfish, eggs, strawberries, peanuts, nuts, etc. No problems. Neither my nor DH's family are prone to food allergies, the only food allergy between both our families that I know of is that my dad is allergic to melons.
Newer research shows that waiting on foods can actually INCREASE risk of allergic reactions. The Chief of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology at the children's hospital I work at says there's no need to wait, so I go by that.
I also want to expose LO to as many foods as possible in hopes that he will not be a picky eater. He's had Mexican, Italian, Indian, etc.
Aside from honey, we haven't avoided any. He ate peanut butter and broke out in horrible hives. So we're staying clear from the actual peanut butter, he can tolerate things made with it. Won't be trying the actual but till he gets his molars so some time after one with benadryl in hand.

Ditto. Could have wrote this myself...all except the Indian food.
We are staying away from shellfish mainly. My step son is highly allergic so we don't eat it much anyway. I've been wanting to give her eggs and strawberries but just haven't yet.
The only thing we've avoided is peanuts. I have a severe peanut allergy, so we'll be waiting on that. It freaks me out to try it, though! He's had everything else, just about. I give ds a variety of food, so he likely would have had a reaction if he was allergic to something.

I have severe food allergies as does DD2. We don't have fish in our house, as I am deathly allergic to all fish. I avoid all major allergens at any cost.

Totally agree about not waiting for food exposure
