Travel alone with 2?

I have a possible job interview in NH and currently live in MI. I am EBF DS so he would travel with me and stay with my mom during my interview since she lives in the area I am traveling to. I am usually home alone with both kids in the evening and DH has no time to take off work to watch her. I would like to bring both kids with me. Is this crazy? Anyone else do this alone with 2? DS would sit in my lap and DD would have her own seat.
Also DD has some developmental delays and walks but would not make it long distances.

  • I would do it. I flew alone from East Coast to Midwest when my son was 2 yr, 8 months and daughter was 2 months. Not a big deal, bring lots of snacks, appreciate that it will be annoying/frustrating at times, but it will end. I think that time I did not bring a stroller for my son, but you could easily wear the baby and bring a stroller for the older one. I have also seen people with huge double strollers at airport I would not do that, but is possible.

I also took a 6hr train ride solo with both kids about 3 weeks prior to the flight that worried me more, but was also fine. I think it is easier when the baby is that young, my daughter mostly slept.

I will say that my son was fairly used to air and train travel at the time I took him, as we had to travel a lot over the prior yearplus, but I would still do it in your circumstance. Good luck.
  • I'm thinking about traveling from CA to NH (where I'm from) in July as well and I'm worried with just the one LO.  Our little guy will be 13 weeks, but its our first and my husbands work schedule will not allow him along for the trip.  My best friend is getting married and I really would like to be there for her wedding.  We have both of our families there as well who would just LOVE to see their grandson/nephew, respectively.  I'm still trying to compile as much advice as possible before this trip.  :)  So far I'm thinking it's like anything else... a little planning can go a long way and at the end of the day it may be difficult but we'll get through it.

I am in a similar situation. I am flying from CA to PA in a few weeks. My husband works long hours and I am a teacher so I have off for the summer. I am going to stay with my parents for a month. I will be alone with my 7 week old and my 2 year old daughter. My daughter will have a seat and I plan on using the ergo for my son. We have done this flight with my daughter about 8 times in her life so she is pretty used to it. I just bought some new kids books that are all about flying to help remind her of the process.
We do have a layover in Minnesota so we will have 2 shorter flights. I did a nonstop flight with my daughter and swore I would never ever do it again. It's much better for her when we stop and she can run around a little bit.
The plan is for my husband to get a "gate pass" so he can escort us though security and get us situated at the gate. I am also going to try and get a pass for my mom so she can meet us at the gate when we land. I have talked to a lot of people who have done this and said it really helps.
