Movement

I am 11 weeks and I feel like when I'm laying in bed really still I can feel something moving in there. Not cramping like I have on occasion this just kind of feels like little flips. Could I possibly feel the baby this early on?

  • I was wondering when the first post claiming movement would be!

It is most likely gas. Your baby is not big enough yet to feel it's movement.

  • I'm 11w5d and swear I have felt the baby (flutters) a couple of times over the last few days. But this is my second time and I think you can feel it earlier in subsequent pregnancies.

  • I did read that some women are able to feel it as early as 1316 weeks. I guess the little baby's bones aren't hard enough yet for us to feel is what one source said.

Same here. This is my 2nd and I know exactly what the early flutters are. Felt them last week at 11w4d. And again yesterday. Way earlier than with my first. OP....first baby movements feel like a butterfly fluttering their wings in your belly....not flips. You'll know when you feel the flutters. Trust me.

  • This is my third. With my first, I was 13 weeks when I felt movement. Second time I was 11 weeks and I can feel movement now at 11 weeks. Having been pregnant before I know the difference between movement and gas. So yes, it is possible.

I agree, I started feeling this one at 11 too. I didn't think it was possible but it is.

This.  This is my 2nd pregnancy and I remember feeling this.  I will be 11 weeks tomorrow and a couple times I've felt like a 'tickle' down in my pelvic area, where baby is.  I would say if it's your first pregnancy, it may or may not be early movement.  But baby IS definitely moving at this point and some women are more in tune with what's going on in their bodies so don't necessarily rule it out.  First pregnancy, at this point I didn't feel it yet.  Very possible it could be gas but with me, I can tell the difference between gas and a flutter.  My gas doesn't tickle.  Lol.

  • I definitely feel flutters. This is my 3rd. I felt them later with my other two.
  •  I could feel my IUD, even though everyone I talked to about it told me "That's impossible, it's just cramps, why are you making things up?" Well...I endured for five years. The day after I got my IUD removed, the pain was gone as if it never existed.

I am curious whether that means I'm sensitive enough to feel the peanut a little earlier than usual, as well.  I suppose I'll find out in a couple of weeks! ;)

  • I had no idea about this fluttering thing until now. But I lay very still the other night and felt a fluttering sensation. I thought we'll it could be the baby but its probably just me digesting something. Next day I spoke to mum and she asked if I had felt the baby yet and before I said anything she said it feels like a little butterfly in your tummy. So there you go sounds like it was the baby and I'm 11 1/2 weeks

With DS I didn't feel movement until 17 weeks but I could have sworn I felt something last night. So far it's been gas bubbles but this was different so who knows.

Thanks for all the input! I couldn't think of a word to describe it but flutters is what I felt! Maybe it isn't movement yet but I definitely know it's not gas

For 2nd time moms it's not too early. Things move up sooner because our uteruses sp? are already stretched from our first pregnancy. I 100 knew last week at 11w4d that I felt the flutters. It lasted a few minutes. Then I felt it again 2 days ago. It's not like later on with my first pregnancy when I felt flutters more theoughout the day and everyday. but still, i did feel movement this early with my second pregnancy. With my daughter, I didn't feel movement this early.

Maybe but no. I just don't believe it. :) I'll get back to this in a couple of weeks if I can feel something.

Just because YOU can't feel it doesn't mean someone else doesn't. Everyone is different. I am 11 weeks today and this is my 2nd pregnancy. A couple times now I've felt that tiny 'tickle' sensation...definitely not gas. I wouldn't so blatantly doubt someone.

  • I love all the "definitely not gas" comments. Regardless of the # of children you already have, 11w-12w is just too early to feel ANYTHING. Gas can feel like A LOT of different things and even when I WASN'T pregnant there would be times that I felt a "babykick" sensation and I had to remind myself that it was in fact gas. Also ladies, remember that your shiz is moving around down there, organs are being pushed up so gas can feel different than it normally does.

Agreed. I've never felt this before and surely I've had gas before. I wasn't looking for a flutter, i had no idea thats what it feels like. I was just consentrating on my breathing and trying to relax. And this is my first. Maybe you're just more aware of it if you've had one before.

  • Oh shoot.  Just seeing this.  Well, I knew there were folks who would say no - it's not possible, but considering "science" (though I'm not sure how science can actually measure this) says you can feel it at 13 weeks, I don't think it's such a long shot that some women CAN feel it around 12 weeks.  Especially if they are STMs+ or have other circumstances (placement, popped early, maybe baby is measuring ahead, ...)

Also - I am pregnant with twins and miscarrying one.  I have only felt the baby 3x or so, during periods when I'm having intense cramping and it makes perfect sense that the baby would be squirming around like crazy during those times.  Pulled out the doppler and sure enough you can hear baby flipping around in there with the doppler at the same time.  So you can totally have your doubts, and it isn't the norm, but you can't say for sure that someone doesn't feel it.

Science suggests that it is too early to feel 'flutters'. It doesn't prove it. I didn't say she was feeling baby. I said this is my 2nd pregnancy and I know what is and isn't gas.
