beat the heat?

I dread leaving the house because it's in the high 90's here and Jack gets so sweaty. I put window shades up, I put a blanket over his seat to protect the medal from the sun, I put a mini fan on his seat with foam blades to cool him off while the car is cooling off, and he still screams! It scares me because I know babies aren't good at regulating their body temps. Any other tricks I'm missing? I know the start the car ahead of time, but right now DH is gone and we live in an apartment building with the parking lot around front so I wouldn't feel comfortable starting it and leaving it. Once my husband gets back I guess that could be an option.

If you have two sets of keys you can start the car to cool of first and lock it.
