Has anyone used fish oil for reducing ADHD symptoms? DS1 was prescribed 600MG of EPA by his behavioral pedi. He's supposed to take it daily for two months to see if it possibly has a positive effect on his hyperactivity. I found some fish oil at GNC that has it (we mix it into a smoothie), and I also learned that those Omega 3 gummies are basically just candy!
Has anyone else had any experience with this? It's only been a week, so it's still too early to tell if this is a waste of time and money.
Re: Fish Oil & ADHD
The only problem we had was fish oil is an anticoagulant. Nate had shitTon of nosebleeds so we had to quit. We were taking it just for general health and brain development....
He directed me to a nearby pharmacy, or he also said I could try GNC. He said the EPA dosage was the most important factor, not the Omega 3.
My devel peds also recommended this, she said it can help to reduce the "hyperactivity", so I use Omega gummies, which are like candies and he takes 2 a day every day. Just be careful to stay away from Mercury containing things. Also she said that things that have red food dye in them can increase hyperactivity in kids, so I try to steer clear of red food dyes.
