Nbr: shower ideas

So I know I posted a couple weeks ago about the mechanical bull at my friend's shower... Nothing else has been mentioned so I'm hoping that's off the tables :-)

But apparently now us bridesmaids are in charge of games. The theme is country western, so we're looking for ideas or prizes to fit that. Any ideas?

(I lack in this department... A good shower to me means feed me, beer me, let's talk for a minute about the wedding plans, let me go home. No games=a success in my book, but that's not gonna fly for this group!)

Given the atmosphere that would accompany the possibility of a mechanical bull, how about a beer drinking contest? ;]

But really, you can do the wedding dresses out of toilet paper game, or how well does the bride know the groom. Ooh or get a huge piece of paper and lay it in the floor. Everyone has to bend at the waist and trace their hand. Write down what everyone says while they do it. Read it back at the end and that is what she will say on her honeymoon. We got some fabulous ones at my sister's shower. "Oh hell I can't do this. You're kidding me right? You want me to do WHAT with this marker?" :]

  • I'm not a big fan of games at showers. I think the only one at my bridal shower was bingo which I didn't mind.

  • Pin the peeper on the man!! I dont know if you have any sex toy shops in your area but they sell a game kind of like pin the tail on the donkey but instead its a naked cowboy that has no peeper. The game comes with like 25 paper peepers and you blindfold the girl and spin her around and see where she sticks it haha. Wait are we talking shower or batchelorette party?

  • HBOO!!!! I may or may not be planning an elaborate cowgirl party for dd's 4th birthday in July (I totally am). But my party involves pony rides and a Western craft :) What ideas do you need?

  • Candance, get your mind outta the gutter, this is a shower with old women! BUT, I do love that idea for the bachelorette party. We're going to Nashville, so I may have to sneak that in my carry on. =)

Mrs. G, what I'm really looking for are game ideas/prizes for winners, and favors.

    HELP!!!

Side note.. Why do people want to play games at showers? Who invented this idea?

  • I think they say its supposed to help make everyone socialize and feel more comfortable. But really it does the opposite. I was just the MOH for my friend and we just did how well does the bride know the groom, for every wrong answer she had to Chew a piece of gum and we did bridal bingo. I didn't really think about gifts so I just got a few 5 dollar gift cards from dunkin donuts.

  • I think edible shower prizes are best as they will actually get used. I would have some cowboy boot and hat sugar cookies made and wrapped, or put a candle or misc small kitchen utensils in a western theme gift bag.

  • I like the bride and groom game and its an easy one to coax people to try.

Also, we did something similar to this at my shower---fill a big cowboy hat with a bunch of small gifts (kitchen gadgets, napkin holders, coasters, candles etc.) and blindfold the bride and ask her to reach in and pull out one item and guess what she is holding--the attendees can give her clues.

I like edible favors. Theres a cookie called a cowboy cookie--you could make those and tie them up with a ribbon and a nice cowboy boot or hat label or card. You could also make those mason jars of layered cookie ingredients using the cowboy cookie recipe...check out pinterest. If you 1/2 the recipe you can even make smaller jars of them and save some money depending on how large the guest list is.
