I'm a bloated mess - Update

After being away for a few days I made the mistake of stepping on the scale this morning. I gained 10 f!cking lbs in 5 weeks! I nearly died. Thing is, I didn't overindulge and I did a ton of walking. It's super humid and hot here and my fingers look like sausages and they are hard to close, my ankles are gone, and when I wake up in the morning my body is creased from the water retention. I have an u/s this afternoon an I'm sure my dr will b!tch me out. So, how can I alleviate or prevent future swelling? Any suggestions?

The dr didn't even bat an eye at my weight gain because everything else is looking good.   Our little man is about 3 lbs 5oz and he's measuring right on schedule!  We had a 3D look and he looks soooo much like P!!

I devoured half a watermelon and I feel better already.  Thanks, ladies!

  • Dude, I was a hot, bloated mess with N. Try not to worry too much if you have a clean bill of health. Drink lots of water, lay off as much salt as you can, walk daily, and keep your feet up when swelling becomes too much.

  • Drink lots of water!!!

I'd actually bring up the swelling in your appointment to make sure you are not developing signs of pre-e.

  • Celery, eggplant and watermelon are supposedly diuretic.
  • Drink! Drink! Drink! Seriously, guzzle water...

I'm on mobile so I can't see a ticker, but I started swelling with DD1 between 18 and 20 weeks and I ended up with pree.

I hope everything goes well today.
  • There was a week when I was pregnant with Gator that I gained 13lbs of water weight! I felt awful! So I totally know how you feel. My OB said to drink lots of water and that would help, but it didn't.

Sorry you are feeling so icky!

  • I have a bloat bump going on right now, even though I have actually lost about 5 lbs. I agree with others- drink water and cut back on your salt intake. I think some women just tend to gain a lot of bloat weight at the end of pregnancy. My bff gained about 50 lbs her last pregnancy and said she lost 35 lbs within a week of giving birth because she said she was just so bloated at the end, it was mostly water weight.
