Am I alone in already planning LO's first birthday already!!??

Does anyone follow me on Pinterest? Fair warning ill be pinning lots of donut ideas. We will be doing a donut party "do-nut be late! Or Do-nut miss A's first birthday!" I'm excited about this. I had lots of fun with LO1's first birthday which was themed "cute as a button"

We are going to do a small family gathering. Like maybe 4 people other than ourselves.

As far as gifts we are probably going to stick with the same plan we have for Christmas, the Four gift rule, one you want, one you need, one you wear, one you read.

DS's baby shower was pirate themed! We had to have it co ed otherwise there would have been maybe 5 people there. All of FI's friends loved it though! We had pirate themed games also.

I am not in full-blown party planning mode yet, but I have definitely been thinking about it. We went to a little baby gymnastics class this week to check it out and see if we were interested in enrolling LO. While there I noticed a paper with information about doing birthday parties there. We got all excited and started coming up with a guest list of little ones Smile

. Nothing official yet, but I am excited to start the planning.

Does it work out well? Our families don't really do Christmas exchanges and since D is the first grandchild on DH's side , this is the first time we have had to think about gifts. Someone mentioned this on one of the forums, maybe you? I don't remember TBH. But we both thought it was a great idea.

ETA: because I'm tired and cannot spell.

I've started some preliminary planning. Hard to believe it's less than 5 months away! The theme will be elephants/jungle. His nursery is grey with elephants as the semi theme. I have a small obsession with elephants for some reason. N might own most of the Gymboore line that features elephants

There will be cupcakes that I will make because, well that's my thing. I have already bought the liners and toppers. I am excited that his 1st bday is on a Saturday because then we can have the party on his actual date of birth, which for some reason is a big deal to me. I've been looking at things on Pinterest as well. I found the cutest site that shows how to make elephant ear party hats!

We did button cupcakes and cookies, I made button flowers for table toppers (and stabbed myself with the sewing needle many times), our invites were buttons.

We ahve been thinking of different ideas as well. We haven't stared picking anything up yet though. We are going to do a Safari/Jungle theme. N is going to be wearing a safari outfit. Big Smile

No party plans here.

MIL will flame me for sure when she eventually asks. I'm a very low-key partier. We will likely just send an invite to DH's parents and my parents and siblings. No idea who will show up. We live 2-3 hours from my family.

MIL held a baby shower for me. It was the equivalent of Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving dinner. There was so much food. I have a feeling she will want to plan the birthday party after I tell her I'll probably only do burgers, hotdogs, veggies and chips. Lol. And a cake that DH will likely make.

I'm not gonna think about it until 9 or 10 months.

I think we have compromised with bagels, donuts and coffee in a park.. open invite morning "meet-up". Neither of s feel like a 1st party is needed.. but people want us to do something soooooooooo this works. (I will do a photo set up of cake smashing and balloons) ALSO this is a added opportunity for our friends kids to wear the hell out of their Halloween costumes (her b-day is oct 29th) and come run around the park

This sounds like the perfect time to use the "oh I have everything taken care of MIL, but thanks so much for thinking about LO. We can't wait to see you on X date to celebrate" The less details the better!

Well, I guess I have a lot of ideas. We will be having an Avengers themed party. I am seriously debating on making him his own super hero suit to wear. I'm also 99% sure he will be getting some Hulk hands because he has a Captain America Shield and Thor's hammer, and I really feel like he needs Hulk hands. Avengers Themed snacks too. Still in the thinking process...
