Last day for elementary students here is Thursday (half day) and teachers are done Friday. I am looking forward to not having to rush quite so much to get one to daycare and the big one to school by 7:50.
We go back after Labor Day. We were originally ending on the 17th, but we had to make up 7 extra days from Hurricane Sandy. (3 at the end and 4 during vacations)
I've been out since February for bedrest amd then maternity leave and now PreK is done so I am officially on summer break until August. DS1 is out with me now, too, so I've been planning lots of activities for us and can't wait until the splash park opens so we can add that in. We've mostly been making the rounds of the local indoor play gyms and the parks, playing in the backyard, and he just started karate. I've planned some field trips to local museums and attractions and I am hoping we can make a small trip to Hilton Head before I head back to work. I love summer!
The last day of school is June 21st here (they had to make-up hurricane days and snow days). Not looking forward to it because that means our neighborhood that is quiet during the day will be full of kids now and we probably won't have the playground to ourselves, plus places like the aquarium and zoo will be more crowded. :P
DS1 gets out June 6th. He has off this Friday and next Monday though. These last few days are just filled with parties and field days. We leave for vacation to Myrtle Beach June 15th and after that we don't have anything else big planned. I'm sure some weekend trips to the beach. My mom got a pool last August, so I'm looking forward to using that all summer.
Ours is the last week of June, I think the 28th. They go back after labour day. I'm in Alberta.
It's crazy that you guys get out so early! High school grads here are generally this upcoming weekend, then there's still a month to go after, mainly wrap up and exams.
i'm not a teacher but i am on maternity leave until august 30th. this is the first summer i have ever had off since i was i was 14 and will likely be the last! so i am really looking forward to just relaxing and spending time with the kiddo's and family
i hope i can enjoy it, i feel like i have set great expectations since it is the only summer i've ever had off and because i hate my job soooo much. i already have anxiety about going back, so i'm just trying to make the most f this summer. also this may be my last baby (we are on the fence about having a 3rd but leaning towards no for now). i have a rough leave with my DD, it wasnt very long and she had horrible reflux and colic and did nothing but scream all the time. so i wished it away and just as she started getting better i had to go back to work that makes me set even greater expectations lol.

Do you have an allotted amount of days children need to be in school or have a crazy amount of snow days from being in CAN?
I know in the US, students need to have 180 education days (Some schools run a little over)
So glad someone from Alberta answered! I can't imagine school being out this early! When I graduated high school my last diploma (physics) was on June 28th. I had to leave my training for my job as a camp counselor to take the exam! School here start around the end of August/beginning of September depending on the year. Most often it's the 2nd or 3rd of September that they start.
We don't have a set number of days that kids need to be in school, but there is a set number of hours required for the school year that is based on student numbers.
And we don't have snow days here. The schools are open every day of the school year, regardless if buses run or not. I have quite literally never heard of a school closing for weather, so they don't build in snow days or those types of things.
