Babies: 3 - 6 Months

So frustrated.

I have a son who's going to be 4 months old on May 30th. Been breastfeeding and formula feeding since he was about a month old (before that it was straight breastfeeding only). All of a sudden he's super fussy wants only formula and won't take any breast milk. My diet hasn't changed, I'm not doing anything different with him.

He screams his head off til 1 am then sleeps for 10 hours straight. What is wrong!?!?

Lol. My LO only wants formula and refuses BM too. I don't know what the deal is but I've given up.

  • It may be easier for them to get the formula depending on the nipple you use. They may have to work harder for the BM and that's why the crying, and just wanting formula. You might want to try a nipple that's more like an actual nipple if you aren't already. GL

  • My little guy wouldn't take BM straight from the breast when he was first born so I had to feed him from a bottle. I was heartbroken so I talked to a lactation consultant and she had us cup feed him to break him from the bottle so he could learn to latch and enjoy breast feeding. It only took two feelings with a shot glass before he was back on the boob. Good luck!
  • Most likely it is the speed and ease of bottle feeding.  Bottles are just easier, breast feeding takes more muscles and time.  You can switch to a low flow bottle, pump BM, or try switching to just breast feeding if that's where you want to end up.
