Leaky diapers

I've never had an issue with diapers leaking and it's mostly overnight. We use Luvs....has anyone used the Huggies Overnites?

And he had two blow outs yesterday during the day and one leaky. I'm not sure if he is just enough force or if my favorite diapers are just no longer good enough to keep everything in. We may have to switch all together.

Are his diapers super full when he gets up?  DS's diapers were starting to be really full so I started changing him once when he gets up in the middle of the night before I feed him (and he goes back to sleep).  We use pampers and haven't had any issue with leaks yet, *knocks on wood*

We've had a couple of poopie diapers where it's gone up his back and gotten all over his shirt/swing/me/etc but the volume wasn't even that much and his diaper was otherwise dry so I don't think it was an absorbency thing, I think it's force moving it in ways that are messier to clean up.

Yes, his diaper is super full in the AM...he sleeps solid from about 7:30pm until 5:30 or 6am without waking so I really don't want to wake him up and change him. When he has a poopy blow out the diaper isn't super full...I think too it's just that he has more "power" now to force it out.

I think I might pick up some of the overnites diapers and see if they work better for night.

  • Have you tried going up a size for overnights? We use size 1 during the day and size 2 at night and it works really well for us, DS sleeps 8:30 to 8 and we haven't had any leaks, we use pampers.

  • I was going to suggest going up a size as well. We did that and haven't had any problems .. yet :)

This happened to me when she wasn't wearing the right size.

I would say size Is an issue but he is, already in a size 3.... there is no way a size 4 would even fit him.... he is 17 pounds.

I was going to recommend sizing up at night, you could try a small pack of 4s. He will grow into them eventually if they are still too big. We had to use overnight diapers w DS and it helped. We used Pampers I think.

Also, Pampers have seemed to be more absorbent than Huggies and Kirkland for us.

  • Lily will sometimes sleep 12 hours at night, from 10pm to 10am. And she almost never leaks. Her diapers are super full, but it rarely comes through the diaper. We use Luvs. They're cheaper and work so well for us.

  • Try cloth diapers : we have never had a blow out and in the end they are so much cheaper.

That said. Is your baby chunky or skinny? For leaner babies the Huggies over nights work well.

Cloth diapers are not something we want to do. DS is pretty long, I tried to buy huggies overnites but my local stores didn't have them so I'm waiting the two days for Amazon to ship them. last night we had no leaks with normal Luvs diapers.
