WFD? LO edition/make me feel normal

I was over on the toddler board lurking and there was a post about what LO is eating. One poster had the most... intricate (trying to think of a nice way to put it, lol)... menu for her LO I was just blown away. My first thought was "aint nobody got time for that" although obvviously she does. Here's her menu:

Breakfast:  steel cut oats made with BM, mashed banana, chia seeds & wheat germ, homemade yogurt & blueberries w/sippy of BM

Snack: pita with hummus w/sippy of BM

Lunch: Leftovers from the last night's dinner- sauteed kale and shiitake mushrooms in a herbed cream sauce over a piece of whole grain bread with .  cubed tofu and sage sweet potatoes on the side w/sippy of BM

Snack: curried garbanzo beans &/or mango w/sippy of BM

Dinner:   Marinated tempeh with veggies, cottage cheese with chives & chia seeds w/sippy of BM

Snack:  peas in her snack cup

So, what did LO eat for dinner tonight? I don't care if its frozen chicken nuggets or something a la the post above. Lets hear it.

Addy had cut up mesquite turkey lunch meat, a 4oz jar of peas, and about 1 oz of a jar of sweet potato & chicken.  Oh, and one rice cracker.

Kevin for the first time in a while ate what I cooked for myself and H! Needless to say I was thrilled! He had baked chicken, mixed veggies and rice.

I would love for that mom to prepare my meals!!! I'm totally jealous of her LO, ha!

we had pancakes and scrambled eggs too! Daisy is a total foodie, she will eat anything you put in front of her.
  • E had strawberries, half of a sweet potato pouch, a piece of french bread, and maybe one tiny bite of grilled chicken.

We had grilled chicken, feta, and strawberry salad with french bread. I wish she would have eaten that :)

  • Holy crap!  I hope that woman eats that well herself. . .she can come cook for me.  Otherwise I do judge a little those moms that feed their kids better than themselves.  (I get eating better when your kids are around, I make more effort to get veggies on the table than I do when I eat alone.)

We try to have LO eat whatever we are eating for the most part.  Today for dinner we ate: spagetti with my Dad's homemade sauce and black beans (LO ate mostly just the black beans from it), french bread, pineapple and mangos. Also had a big before bedsnack of cheerios.

ps- We probably have pancakes or waffles for dinner every couple of weeks. Nothing wrong with breakfast at night.  :)

  • Last night for dinner we made turkey tacos, so I made Hadley a quesadilla with the seasoned ground turkey and shredded cheese. She ate about 1/4 of the quesadilla, plus an extra scoop of meat and some spanish rice. She also ate about 6 grapes and a wedge of apple.

We do easy meals at our house! Things like grilled/baked chicken with steamed veggies and rice, or pasta w/turkey sausage or frozen meatballs that cook in the sauce ... things that take 1/2hr or less to prepare. Hadley has always eaten well, so she eats what we eat.

I try to send leftovers for her lunches at school, but she will get graduate meals sometimes, or velveeta shells&cheese. :)

  • Skyler had curried chicken and veggies over rice with a sippy of Vanilla Almond Milk.  It was leftovers from the night before.

FTR: Skyler eats everything but some types of fish, tomatoes or WCM.  She loves food and rarely turns her head at what we offer, even if it's sour, spicy or really sweet.

  • We had a girl scout ceremony, so DS had Dr Praegers Broccoli pancakes on the way out the door, grapes, a cherry tomato, melon and water.  Not exactly an epic night for dinner, but he was too busy playing to eat more, then when we got home he was ready to nurse and go to bed.

I'm so happy to read this.  We are the same way.  Easy meals, a lot of dishes that have leftovers, and the crock pot when I remember it!  I can't tell you how inferior I feel when people have Thai food or soemthing and I'm like...what?

HA yeah, no fancy meals here! I leave the house at 6am and don't get home until about 5pm. There just isn't time for that!

And when we have Thai, it's because we got take out. And Hadley eats that too. She loves pad thai :) And we're having that tonight since we have her 15mo appt right after work!

  • Dylan had a toddler muffin and strawberries last night.

Last night we had roast chicken, whole wheat pasta with peas and pesto, steamed broccoli.  Dylan will have the pasta w/ peas and pesto and some shredded leftover chicken tonight.

Dylan freakin loves pasta.  My go to if he doesn't like what we have is those spinach filled tortellonis in the refridgerated section with pasta sauce.  He can eat a ton of those.

  • We had turkey dogs, baked beans and sliced tomato and cumber for dinner. Laney had half a turkey dog,2 beans and lots of tomato and cucumber.
